Average score stopped going down

  Over the past couple of weeks i have had rounds of between -2 and -6 and it's not affected my average score of 66.05. It seems as though my average score has stopped going down no matter how many rounds i shoot under par.

  Is this something that is supposed to happen, i.e. you need to start posting rounds of -10 or so for it to affect your average, or is this an problem that i need to contact WGT about.

  It's normal.   unless you are shooting very low scores.

   

  9 hole scores are doubled when it comes to averages,  your avg is 66.05,  which is pretty much the same as shooting a 33 for 9 holes.  If I am correct, you won't see a drop in your average unless you shot 32 or better for 9 holes or 65 or better for 18 hole rounds.

  If your shooting -6 your score will definitely go down. If your shooting 33 chances are no. I was at 64.4 and finally after a week shot a 32. My avg went down to 64.0. Now I will have to shoot 31 or less for my avg to move.

  Thanks for the answers guys, its much appreciated.

  I thought there was a problem but just looks like i will need to get some more practice in and work hard on getting my score down. It's just because a few weeks ago a score of -2/-3 for example would take my average down a couple of points, i.e. from a 66.58 to 66.53, but now that same score doesn't effect it whatsoever.

  Hello,

   

  I am at a 71 I have played 9 full rounds of 18 on par'5 and shooting -6 or lower my score will not drop.  This makes no sense to me, these types of avg's should drop my score.  I'm not wanting to play anymore because of this.

  The 'Best of par 3 & 5' courses do not count towards your average. Only ranked rounds will affect your average score.

  @Scott: I disagree - see ##2 and 3.

  @Harold:

  1) Average calculations use gross scores (not relatives), and nine hole scores are doubled.

  Your best Par5 scores were 81 / 18 and 38(76) / 9. How should they influence your average? Push it up?

  Don't worry though:

  2) Par3 scores and (though not mentioned in the FAQs) Par 5 scores do not count to the average.

  3) All courses with Par settings between 65 and 75 do count.

  Edit: Exclude Par4 from your exception - they count! ;->

  The Bo4 is a Par 72 like BoF and BoH - they all count (even in the "Spring Storm" tourney which I lightheadedly set up in my CC on Bo4 with strong wind - only two out of ten broke Par!)

  It's reasonable that Bo3 is excluded (see FAQs) - how to deal with the 18 shots missing against the other courses? Bo5 are excluded, too, though they would not come into play for a final average.
