I recently was given a Dynex DX-24L150A11 LCD Monitor.  I already had an ATI Radeon HD 4600 Series Video Card installed.  Connected the new monitor to my pc.  Set the resolution to 1280x960 and presto... the graphics are gorgeous.  The cable connecting the monitor to my video card is a standard vga cable.

My question is this:  would an hdmi connection make any noticeable improvement in the graphics display?

I use a hdmi cable to connect laptop to 22 in monito using 1920* 1080resolution and works great

Shop online for hdmi cable as locally they are very expensive.

    hi

vga is analog connection while hdmi is digital. are you able to get higher resolution on the screen?

also, try to buy hdmi cables on amazon or other online retailers, best buy may charge you $30 while you can get the same cable for $5 elsewhere.

I can get the cable locally for about $10, but I am more concerned right now about is it worth it?  Am I going to see a very pronounced upgrade in the graphics using hdmi?  Thanks Icon.

    hi

first of all, can you tell me the model of your monitor? the resolution you mention sounds a bit small? you can try right clickiing on your screen, selecting resolution and seeing if you can do even higher.

i dont know if dramatically will be the word but vga is analog and hdmi or dvi is digital, so itwill be better but by how much, i am not sure :)

The max resolution is 2048x1536, but what I have it set to now (1280x960) gives me a full screen picture in a golf match with no borders.

It would be better for sure, but you shouldn't expect the same improvement as you would get on a system with a dedicated dvr upscaling and a plasma or an led monitor.

There are too many variables to consider there. If you can get a HDMI cable for a little expense then it is worth the investment.

I found one on Amazon for $2.95 plus tax and free shipping.

    Warren,

if it works for well you then keep it as is. I would do something different but that's just me :)

fi you curious: i'd set resolution to max, then resize game window to my liking. if you want full screen, that's fine too.
