I've never paid attention if this has ever been asked or answered.

I'm curious if the wind direction is suppose to be true at St Andrews? Or any course for that matter. What I'm asking if the wind starts out blowing from the north is it suppose to stay blowing from the north? In WGT world can it switch from 20mph out of the north on one hole, blow 20mph out of the south on the next, then switch back to 20mph out of the north on the next hole?

    Icon do you know?

Each hole is completely random as to wind direction.

    It's the fairest way. Honest.

what would be unfair about everyone getting the same wind direction?

I live in st andrews and it is surrounded by sea on three sides .Some days the wind direction changes as the tides go in or out .If you have heard the expression 4 seasons in one day that is true for this part of the world .

My understanding is it was random per round but not per hole. But after what I witnesses on Front 9 STA I see now it's random per hole.

that's the right answer. i realize it's not the same in real life but then again, we seen players play in morning in calm winds and then afternoon group get dry greens and 20-30mph winds...that's likely worse than totally random winds.

c'mon Icon thats not really the same is it, unlikely though it is here everyone could tee off at the same times and all have different winds.

Also no matter what time you tee off irl you know what direction the winds are - you're not going to finish one hole and wonder what wind is on the next tee

And here in a single play tournament wind direction does matter - so much so that over 18 holes wind could affect the final score by at least 6 shots.

I ask this all the time -

1      tell me how that is fair in a single round tournament?

2      Why are you so determined not to try fixed winds in single play tournaments - this is beta after all

ForrestLeigh, I have asked why everyone does not get the same winds (both direction and magnitude) in tournaments before. Lot of people agreed that would the most fair and so do I. It's also the most realistic to me.

Saying people staring in morning getting different winds than afternoon is just ***. Of course some gets different winds but most of the players in the whole field get approximately the same (it will MAYBE change slightly from one hour to another which i think is negligible if saying 6 groups or 12-18 people are teeing off every hour).

And besides, this internet-game aint reality in any way so make it as fair as possible instead, some people do actually pay to play this game..

Is it because it's to hard for the programmers to fix it (i doubt it is)? Or why wont you change it as I believe almost everyone here would think its better and more fair for everyone to have the same wind-directions and magnitudes. I would like to hear the arguments against that..
