I'm currently at level 87 and was wondering if I should go for the Burner 2's now or wait for the R11's at level 90?

I did spring for the Burners shortly before the R11s were announced. Borrowed the R11s for free at Thanksgiving and didn't see any difference (but it was a short trial).

As I see you are playing the G10s, truth be told I'm waiting to see what will replace the G10s - which are now listed by Ping as a legacy club. Maybe G20s that are no faster than the G10s but have some superior specs?

The R11's are pretty special. Nicely spaced and have a 225 iron which comes in very useful. They stop better and perform better out of the rough too. Seems a shame to only keep the Burners for a couple of levels so I suppose it depends on your cash flow.

All I will say is this: There is a long way to go till level 90, and I mean 10's of 10's of thousands of xp's. Unless you are playing 7or 8 tourney's, and I mean 18 holes, a day its going to take you a while.

If you are happy with the irons that you have I would suggest waiting for the R11's, or maybe, as suggested , any new irons that may come out in the meantime.

Your choice but , in the meantime, Happy golfing and have a Happy and Prosperous New Year.

I agree with Piz,  but I believe that's what he meant to say.

I have the Burner 2 clubs and from the looks of the stats on the two sets not a lot in it, i have been using the Burner 2s for quite a while and I find them really good. At this stage if you can wait and really want the R11 then wait, it will be a waste if you buy the Burner 2s now and really want the R11 when you get to level 90, but if you do go for the Burner 2s now you will not be disappointed.

Cheers for the info. Cashflow isn't a problem so I may go for the Burners now and see what the future brings. Happy new year to everyone.

I was having this same discussion with another CC member last night. He's at 87 and staying with the G10s until he can get to the R11s. I'm telling him pretty much what Mel said-there's a long way to level 90 from 87 and 100s of games to be played. Better than that, as we were playing the match I would point out the differences in the shots he was making vs the way he would make them with  Burners. He's quite adept at playing the G10s and has a secure grasp on playing the game but those G10s sure got a workout during the match.

FWIW, it took me one round with the Burners to forget the G10s. When the R11s came along, the same thing happened but for a different reason-the R11 long irons. The rest of them are Burners with a different name.  :-)

Go for the burner 2's now, they are amazing. The swing meter is slightly faster than that of the G10's, but the same as the r11's. It's not too hard to get used to, does takes some adjustment, but you will be that much more prepared for the future when you upgrade (unless they come out with better clubs and a slower swing meter).

Yes Mr. Jim I took the plunge so to speak. R11's are great but the only thing I miss is the punch shot between the Burner PW (108 yds.) to the 103 yds.)with the R11 PW. Those 5 yards come in handy sometimes. Lol!
