For what it's worth, Im with you ZAG. After reading and listening to those who seem to know what they are talking about, I dumped the G10's and purchased the Burner 2.0's along with the Cleavland wedges. I am still amazed, to date, at the things I can do with the 2.0's verse what the G10's had to offer. (Let it be known that I still suck and still learning these new weapons).

The only difference between the G10's and the Burner 2.0's is night and day. Thank you Yankee Jim. I love these clubs.

As far as the new R11's are concerned, the only difference I can see is the forgiveness factor. Other than that, the clubs are almost identical. (Quick question, can you actually see or tell the difference in the 1/2 dot forgiveness with the swing meter)? Maybe I am missing something else, which should not surprise anyone. Yes, I am sometimes slow. Please forgive me.

    Have a nice day.

    mnshiner:
R11's are great but the only thing I miss is the punch shot between the Burner PW (108 yds.) to the 103 yds.)

Push your CG100 with top spin and helping wind as little as 4 mph. You can cover up to that 108. You get to take a full swing and that wedge carries nice. On wind at you, the PW does a nice job just choking the swing without spin.

The CG100 does give you great coverage and is amazingly accurate. I've jumped in and purchased the burner 2's - thanks for all the advice guys.

    Attaboy, Steve, good move. :-)

A bit of clarification on what I said above about no spin. The new precision you have now comes with a cost when you use the Callaways or Nikes with them. Spin increases the deviation when you miss the ding. Your results will quite often be wtf shots when you use a lot of spin and miss.

You can see this for yourself if you learn how to control those irons without spin, first. They choke well and you won't get hurt as bad during your learning period. Once you get a handle on them start small and smart with the spin. I see a lot of players addicted to backspin and use it all the time and wind up shooting themselves in the foot. Be careful and smart with spin, it really affects how those clubs perform.

By way of example, in a moderate wind going against you, full back spin will stand a shot up and shorten the carry thus knocking yardage off. 1/2 backspin will not shorten the carry as much and will stop the shot from rolling. With the wind, full backspin will carry the shot, usually farther than the rated distance, whereas 1/4-1/2 spin will control the roll at the end. This is the fun part of learning.  :-)

    YankeeJim:

    Steve442:

I'm currently at level 87 and was wondering if I should go for the Burner 2's now or wait for the R11's at level 90?

I was having this same discussion with another CC member last night. He's at 87 and staying with the G10s until he can get to the R11s. I'm telling him pretty much what Mel said-there's a long way to level 90 from 87 and 100s of games to be played. Better than that, as we were playing the match I would point out the differences in the shots he was making vs the way he would make them with  Burners. He's quite adept at playing the G10s and has a secure grasp on playing the game but those G10s sure got a workout during the match.

LOL, it's ok you can name drop me YJ.  There's no doubt that there are shots out there, especially for a Legend, that the G10's can't make. 190 yards out to a green elevated 30 feet for instance. I don't care what ball you play with, it's not sticking with my G10's. On those long par 4's my options become:

    1. Just roll it all the way over the green and play a flop shot from the fringe / rough / fairway, and hope to sink for bird
    2. Lay it up and play the wedge in close for a par

Neither of these are a good option. My only concern is this, will the Burner 2.0 hold? The extra yardage on the 3 iron for the R11 doesn't concern me.  I just bought the R11 3 Wood and I know right where 225 is on my meter now for that club. Since moving to Legend, I feel like my irons are costing me 2 strokes a side since I'm no longer approaching from 120-150 out, it's more like 160-200 out.

    Steve:

I'd be interested to see what you find out.

R11's are the better of the two.  IMO

Its only been a couple of days but I wish now I would have kept the Burners. And yes I was used to them but to me the wind really plays havic on the R11's.

But then again I am no expert by any means and after time I will get the hang of the R11's also I hope.
