    mnshiner:

Just my opinion and it doesn't count as much because I realize this is a very hard and time consuming thing to do.

Next time if you decide to do it again try and line the teams up from the same area where the time isn't that much of a factor. US teams vs Us teams, etc, Registration for tourney should have a place where your team is from to make it easier for you to line up the matches. Then as the tournament progresses this is where the time difference would kick in.

The problem is people paired with different time zones see? as above ........ nothing I could do to prevent that =(

In our first round match we played players from Italy and South Africa.  We are in the central time zone in the US.  All players worked together to get the match done and we finished it within a few days with no issues.  I just don't see why we reward players who don't play their matches by giving them a bye through to the next round.  In a large tournament like this you can't make exceptions, especially if they totally screw up the brackets of the tournament.

One or both of the teams who can't get their match finished have to forfeit.  The tournament director should choose which one doesn't go through.  We have a tough 2nd round match, why not just don't try to play and get a bye through for both of us.  This isn't 3rd grade kickball, we don't all get awards for participating.

If you can't spend the time to get your match done, don't sign up.

    I agree with TarheelsRule

Myself and Dash71 played them, there was a massive gap in time difference, but I reckon we could have organized to play them a further 10 times since then. We had three messages sent back and forth just to confirm the time, pitched up and we played. Simple.

We played hard and lost to a better team, with a bit of luck things might have gone different, but ce la vie.

In my mind, having played a very good team from The Deviations first round, coming close but losing is cool with me. However I wouldn't think it to be fair that we were better organized, played a better team, lost and went out, but another team who has not bothered organizing anything, did not play, but gets through to the next round.

If a game hasn't been played in the designated time period, I feel that's the fault of both teams, and as a result, both should be eliminated form the tournament. It should maybe be seen as worse than a loss, as it effects the integrity of the tournament and the huge efforts put forward by BootsAndBra. Where as a loss can at least be seen as an effort made to play, and adhere to all the rules set in place. Same amount of points are awarded for a loss and a bye which is, Zero. However a game played is at least a step up from one not having been played at all.

If you see the lineup they are playing each other - the bye was given to just give extra time to play those games not to avoid them playing them...... then they are playing the first round again inside this round without you guys to lower the teams back down to where they are suppose to be. They only needed extra time not avoidance.

No one got ahead of anyone else or behind anyone else. This was the fairest way to do things. Here'  let me give you an example: I saw Suncity28 and Jordanisawesome and Adeypa and BigChunky all trying to work together to get the match played but life happened and time differences, jobs and families came into play - they are playing each other this round and then the winners spin off into playing another team that had to bye out too.

Now to answer the last part of your question- It's never ever ever my job to decide who goes forward and doesn't in elimination tournaments as these. My job is to stand on the outside and govern it as fair as possible. The rest you players take care of on the green. Once a tournament director starts deciding things like  who stays and who goes not based on playing but just their whim .... the game is fixed. I have and will toss people out for things like unfair play, bad behavior that abuses another player etc ..... but nahhhhhh when I'm running the tournament the one thing they will always be known for is " Being Fair "

I have played in many big community comps and to ensure its success PLAYERS  MUST  take responsibility and make a huge effort to play so the WHOLE comp can run nice and smooth,Alt Shot is tricky because you may get 4 players from 4 different time zones .I think Bootsie has adopted the perfect attittude in letting players have a last chance to play,This is so different from Match play or say the WGA tour, sheduling games can be a nightmare. But as long as WE the players make a huge effort everything will be fine.I know games will run over but as teams are eliminated im sure it wil get going at the speed of the time frame,Hey i dont think its going bad at all considering all the loose teams that were thrown together,BOOTSIE ROCKS,errr I mean Elestagirl!
