Thanks for your kind words  Hole & Randy

OK here we go with the summary,

First of all congratulations to those that took part in a great day. Fun was the order of the day, and I am sure you enjoyed reverting back to the good old days with a starter driver, a starter putter and of course those starter balls!

The conditions were set to test you, and they certainly did. High wind and slow greens, but I was very lenient to allow you to play off those red tees!

The live leaderboard constantly changing as Joe and Geordie blazed through the course setting a very respectable 40 points. That was the target for the rest. Various groups then took to the field. Keeping one eye on the wind speed and another on the live leaderboard. Disturbian was going consistenly well with her partner Sriley, and so was Shuggy and Evans. Iceats was quietly producing the best round of the day. It was mounting to a exciting climax.  In came Disturbian and Sriley with a great 44 points. Shuggy and Evans  coming up the last were biting at the lead. till eventually overtaking them with fine combined scores of 24 pts each  a total of 48 stableford points.   A very late challenge by Mikeyb and Dickie came close to that second spot, just failing by 1 point.  There were many tales of woe  during the rounds  and I could imagine hearing my name being cursed for the 'twist' in the tail. But at the end of it all (9 hous later in fact) it seemed everyone enjoyed the challenge and forgave me. Well done to you all, and remember to re-equip your bag with your normal clubs  and balls!!!

Congratulations to the doubles winners (Now in the hall of fame(on site)  and proudly engraved on the trophy)  Shuggy4400 & Evans3571 -(each win a wedge of their choice) Runners-up  Disturbian & Sriley13 (each win a sleeve of G12-S balls)

The singles title is yet to be resolved and is between 4 players all sharing 24 stableford points.  Disturbian - Iceats - Shuggy4400 & Evans3571. (winner - wedge of their choice) runner up (sleeve of G12-S balls)

    Sudden Death Format

Players will play in the SINGLE PLAY WGT 9 HOLE WEEKLY GAME (stableford will apply so your handicap will come into account)

After the stableford points are worked out the player with the highest stableford count will be deemed the winner. If stableford points are tied - countback will apply to last 3 holes played and if still tied the last 6 holes played. If there is still a tie, the player that recorded the lowest score will be declared the winner and the second lowest will be runner -up. If there is still a tie then we will play a one-off CTTH challenge.

Players must save and upload cards as normal

Thank you for taking the time out on Valentines day to make it a day to remember.

THE PLATINUM CHALLENGE STARTS THIS WEEK  get that round in

Next week sees the start of the divisional leagues  AND a monthly medal is up for grabs

    Keep Smiling & Happy Golfin'

    The Valentines Day Massacre

    Play offs

The play offs (Sudden death) have now been decided. The players taking part were Iceats, Shuggy4400 Disturbian & Evans3571

However as Shuggy & Evans had already won the Valentines doubles, they couldn't claim two prizes by adding the singles. Therefore it was a battle between Iceats and Disturbian.

Disturbian was guaranteed at least  a runners -up prize of balls from the doubles section when finishing in 2nd place with partner Sriley13.  Iceats was looking to add a prize for himself.

    What happened? Who won?

The cards returned came in from Shuggy, Iceats and Disturbian. and all three were impressive. After handicaps were taken into account the result read as follows

    1st Disturbian 28 points

    2nd on Countback Shuggy4400 26pts

    3rd on Countback Iceats 26pts

    The prize winners

As Shuggy had already won the doubles (and no player could win more than one prize) Iceats wins a sleeve of G12-S or G12-D balls

Disturbian (singles) wins a wedge of any selection from the virtual pro shop

Shuggy4400 (pairs) wins a wedge of any selection from the virtual pro shop

Evans3571 (pairs) wins a wedge of any selection from the virtual pro shop

Sriley13 (pairs) wins a sleeve of G12-S or G12-D balls

Please contact me in the site to inform me of your choices, and they will be gifted to you immediately

    Well Done to those players

    Keep Smiling & Happy Golfin'

    Update on prizes

As you know by now  there was a problem in me providing the promised wedges to the winners. So I have looked at what and what can't be gifted in the pro shop. It seems that most equipment for hacks and amateurs  seems to be the option. I know that is no good for pro's and masters, so i looked a little deeper, and have come up with a possible solution to this problem. If you would like to take a rescue club (you choose which) there are some raptures etc  that can be gifted. I know they are more value than the wedges offered, however, as it would seem pointless to offer you equipment that you would not use (ie  hack or pro and starter equipment) I am willing to gift that little bit extra,

For those that won balls. I see the "highest" gift is the G12-s or the G12d  I am afraid that anything above that (I know Ice asked if  it was ok for Tour-SD) Tiour SD do not come under the "gifting" banner.

I appologise for this mishap, and future prizes will not be used for WGT equipment. I will look at alternatives and those alternatives will be of a higher value.

Thank you in anticipation of your understanding

    Keep smiling & Happy Golfin'

This week sees the start of both the League games (all divisions) and the Monthly Medal

Please make sure you read "Fixtures" to establish the venues and formats of each of the four comps on this week. Please also look at 19th (top menu) for changes to leagues.

You are required to play with a partner for the Monthly Medal and the Stableford round 4. You will play solo as specified in the "fixtures" for the Platinum Round 2 and the League Games round 1.

The two new comps starting this week (league and medal) are both Strokeplay (Full handicap allowance) and Handicaps have been adjusted this week, so check your handicaps from the site.

WGT averages will no longer be a base for stableford competitions as proper handicapping software now takes over. Your handicaps will also come into play for all competitions and tournaments with the exception of the Platinum Comp. (based on CURRENT WGT averages at the time of the game/round.)

Well done to last weeks winners Randy209 (Stableford Rd3 ) and Metallican (Platinum Rd1 )( Metallican subject to a 10pt drop when moving up a tier)

Also a magnificent card from Kosei gross 58 (tied for 1st - (2nd on countback by 1pt)

    HANDICAPS

Check the handicaps , you will see many changes. Some players have gone down some have stayed where they were and some have gone UP (including the 'elite')  so watch out!!!

This will make things a lot closer as the original WGT Avg was used only as a basis for handicaps until 3 cards were submitted. We are now at that position, and can operate without any WGT averages. (those that have less than 3 cards will still be subject to the WGT averages basis until 3 cards are in)

Handicaps will be used in the following comps; Stableford - Monthly Medals - League Games - Singles Strokeplay - Singles Matchplay -  International Pairs - World Series - Champion of Champions - and most new comps that are in the pipeline.

Handicaps will not be used in the Platinum Challenge.

For latest news see 19th hole (top menu)

A quick note to those that haven't competed in the divisional match leagues. You have until this Friday (5th March)  to either compete or you will be eliminated from your respective leagues and the "waiting list" participants will take your places.

The raffle is due to be drawn within the next 60 minutes, so if you haven't entered this weeks raffle, you will have to wait until next weeks draw.

St Patricks Day comp is starting to hot up so get your entry in early. There will also be an added prediction type event that will earn you GSBonus points.. So keep an eye out for that.

Particpants in all other active comps/tournamnets that have not played in them have also been removed from the system as it justs creates extra work for no reason. If you wish to re-participate, you will be starting from scratch.
