Questions on golf balls

  I'm thinking of purchasing some upgraded golf balls but I have a couple of questions. 

   

  When it talks about durability, how long, I guess in full rounds or holes do each ball last per one whole dot on their stats? I think the highest is like 3 1/2 dots I believe. I just wanted to know how long I had them.

   

  Secondly, when the balls begin to deteriorate or whatever, do they just start losing all spin and distance or how else can you tell you need a new ball? Also, if you need to change in a round, do you have to save and quit and add a new ball and continue or how does this work?

   

  I just wanted to know more about the durability before I buy and then have to experiment. Thanks.

  The durability of balls varies, as you have concluded, depending on the number of dots. When playing with them, there will be a small bar on the bottom left of the game screen, next to your ball that will change from green to red when your ball has been used up. it is based on shots taken, not rounds, and doesn't include putts.

  When you get down to one ball, you will get a prompt to buy another sleeve, this you can do without leaving the game if you have sufficient funds. if you don't, and you use up the ball, or loose it, the game will default you to WGT starter balls.

  The durability can vary a bit between different types of balls, even if they have the same number of dots. However, as a rule, I think: 1 dot = 90 hits; 1.5 = 110 hits; 2.5 =125. (a player named racoondad has a detailed chart on his profile page; find under WGT community>players>(search) The actual number of hits has been counted).

  A "hit" is any shot that is not a putt. I figure a 9-hole round is around 20 hits.... you may well have more -- or a few less. (9 tee shots; 7 approach shots; 1 more for a par 5; 3 chips & pitches for missed greens = 20; plus 15 putts = 35).

  So, a ball with 1.5 durability (110 hits) will last about 5 nine-hole rounds, assuming you don't lose it.

  The balls don't deteriorate in terms of performance, they just run out.

  Thanks all for the info. I just wish there was a way now to switch out the new balls for the standard WGT balls on the green for putting without saving and quitting twice per hole so you don't wear the balls out. I guess they do that so you don't get the leg up. ;)
