I to just made master, and made the mistake of buying the master irons, stick with the rapture pros for now, you are not losing much distance and the meter is far slower.  You are gonna give up some other attributes from the master irons, but for now, for playability keep the rapture pro irons.

I played my first 9 as a master and actually shot what I had been shooting, so its not too much different yet, havent played black in ranked, just practice so far.  Think of it like you are a hack again, takes time and practice, at least by this point your short game should still be really good, and you get how the greens work

To me, Master is the only lever I want to play at, the game is more challenging and plays more like real golf in my opinion, just gonna hav to practice a lot before going back to playing match challenges and ready-go's.

Don't be in a rush to get here.   I have been ready to throw my laptop out in the street since it happened, until I got the apropriate equipment last night.  What a week....

My avg was in the low 65's high 64's until I made master.... now almost 70.... LOL

I bought master irons too and thought it was a mistake at first, but after a couple of days playing I've got a lot more used to them and am now very glad that I did buy them.

The biggest thing imo that helps is not to mix and match meter speeds with different clubs (except the putter in my case).

I just made master but am struggling mightly as I am still using all the starter clubs. I can't reach many of the par 4s in 2 shots and the feeble driver can't even reach many of the fairways. I suppose that I will ave to bite the bullet and upgrade - would those in the know suggest driver first? Is there anyone out there shooting good scores at master level with the starter clubs?

Without question run out and get yourself a driver. Your new tees demand it if you want 1/2 a chance at competing. Obviously you have your free clubs under control-nice job-but moving back to the blue tees changes everything. The driver will let you hit to the same places in the fairways that you already know. As far as the master driver goes, i prefer the R9, it has a little more distance but i also seem to more consistant with it.  When you are ready for irons, I have had both sets but really like the G10's better, with the higher trajectory they land nice and soft, letting you go for the pin alot more often.  Any of the wedges will do the job nicely for you.  As for putters the redwood or the daytona would be your best bet.

In my opinion the first things a new master needs to buy are a driver, wedges ( to get the backspin on your approaches) and a putter......

    UPDATE:

Well I made master around 1/22 and my avg. shot back up to near 70..... Its Feb. 12 and Im under 64.  Got the driver, 3 wood, irons, wedges, redwood and balls.  I 100% agree with having all matching meter speeds, that was probably the single most game improving suggestion.  Thanks all and hope to see you guys in the 50's within the next few months....... j/k

Carry 3 wedges first of all. I use the Rapture Pro irons and the R9 driver. You need the R9. I sit back and look up towards the meter and hit the aim marker almost 90% of the time. The clubs I have figured out are the distance rated per club divided by 19. There are 19 movements in the clubs. It works for me but of course you have to consider wind and elevation of the green as well. I use the Tour GI-SD balls...helps with the fast meter swing of the R9 because if you are off....wow.

I agree. The Rapture pro irons are a great set.  Master tier is a greater game.
