jayjonbeach: Lets think about this, do you really think that everyone is having CPU spikes at exactly the same time of day? Just coincidence? Do you really think that people with very high end systems that never have more than 20% CPU usage, EVER, just have problems at exactly the same time, by coincidence and their CPU usage is still under 20%?
It's not hard to try to blame it on predefined settings of the most popular operating system. Windows is doing lots of stuff the ordinary user is not aware of. It might be that the smart guys from Redmond have come up with an idea that certain hours during weekends are the best to perform some background maintenance of the system. Same with antivirus software.
I know that my linux system has some cron jobs being scheduled for execution randomly at multiplies of 10s of minutes. Once it launches slocate I know that my game will be stuttering and I have to kill it.
Two things could be done to go towards narrowing of the problem: 1) unplug you internet connection before the shot during an otherwise problematic round, and verify quality of the shot, 2) try to boot linux from a live cd - it should be pretty straightforward for you having already it experience - and play the game at those hours.
I will be more than happy to hear your responses to these excercises, esp. No. 2. Until then I guess we will have to agree to differ.
One thing more - what is your setting of the "background loading" option ?
