Hi every one, is it me or putting became harder after you become Master.

I use to be a good putter and since i turn down Master i can't seem to drop a putt longer then 5 feets.

For exemple front nine of St-Andrew fairway hit 100%, green in regulation 100 %,

avg distance to the pin 11.2 feet, longuest putt made 3.6 feet, and total putt distance 14.29 feet for 9 holes.

14 feet for 9 holes that's all short putt and it's always like that, putt stop at inches from the hole on almost every shot. Did someone had the same problem or it's just  a bad moment i'm in right now

    Thanks for your help

    Yep, experienced the very same.

Don't worry , it'll come round, just takes some adjustment.

Greens get a little faster when you become master. I think, but am not sure that its 1.2x faster. So your old 10 foot putt will now go 12 ft. Like someone said above you will get used to it, just keep playing and learning.

The greens definitely get a little quicker, and the breaks seem exaggerated because of that. Keep practicing and the faster greens will become second nature. Once you get used to the faster greens, you will hate going back to the slow ones.

Honestly, I noticed the same thing. I use a distance chart that someone posted, so the change in green speed is already accounted for (distance/hit wise).

I'm still reaching the greens in regulation, but my scores have dropped dramatically (err - gotten worse, that is). I was "routinely" getting -4s with a good smattering of -5s or better to go along with them. But as soon as I hit master, my range is now +1 to -1, with the occasional -2. I think just yesterday I did better than -2 for the first time or something.

Certainly not coming in to the green at the same place has an effect, longer tees mean different clubs to reach the greens. So making long putts is a lower percentage shot. But I have seen plenty of short putts just "choose" not to go in. I've ranted enough about that so will leave it there. :)

Back on point though, I agree, the change from Tour Pro to Master was startling score-wise.

putting does not change from tour pro to master , the only thing that changes are you move to a longer tee box .

so you are hitting longer irons into the green , hence longer putts on average .

here is what i learned the distance is figured like this  20ft 2in high   = 20 +2 X.8 =17.6 + or - the hgt which is +2 so 19.6 rd off to 20  if the hgt was -2 17.6-2 =15.6 rd off to 16  puts me within 1 ft of the distance  up hill use less break i mean way less  and down hill has more break.  you also have to add a bit on distance for a big curve  its really further and you have to estimate it.  getting within 1 ft took me a month to adjust to the break then last 4 days i shoot -5  -4 -5  on 3 different courses and rd.  if you play a tour master its .7 but i found i come up short on long putts so i usually figure both ways and split it.  if you play legend .7 is perfect  thats using the meter that some body published .  and nike balls yours may vary but should be close  if you need a distance meter send me your email via the message link and i can send it to you.welcome and good luck  i went from 63 avg to 77 as master they had tourney greens when i made it.. but i am having fun now  strikerseasy

That's exactly right Canuck.  The green speed does also get faster so you may have to relearn how to read the greens if you haven't been used to very fast or tourney green speeds.

Lastly, and most importantly line up your putt from the reverse (cup) camera angle and switch your swing to chip to read the greens.

That could be true if my distance to the pin was more now, but in fact i'm getting my approach shot closer now with the new iron so my average distance to the pin is now less then before when i was Tour pro.

    Thx
