Just finished my first match play, and all I can say is WOW.

This has completely changed my outlook on the swing meter, which I used to think was a little of WGT's blame, a little of the net's blame, and a little of each players blame.... NO MORE, lol.

Sure there are things on each end that affect it and may make it worse, but I am now absolutely convinced that the majority of the swing meter issues are programmed into the game. I'd give details, but I'm sure it will go no where and no where fast. Suffice to say, the differences between stroke play and match play are severe, and while I don't even know what the match play challenge option is, you can bet I won't be checking it out any time soon, lol.

Way to go WGT, you took every bit of competitiveness between players out of this game.

I've played three matches and never noticed any difference from stroke play in solo mode.

I'm convinced server load attributes the most the meter problems (since my problems are always at the same time at nights and many users with very high end systems also still having issues) CPU usage maybe running a close second.

Tin foil hat theorys maybe in 3rd.

Maybe the person you were playing was in fact an Irish gypsy otherwise known as a Pikey, and they just put a curse on your swing meter as the game loaded.

If you want to try a Matchplay Challenge against me, we don't have to play for credits, but if I win I would like a caravan.  I want the hector two roof lights, with the discover cushions and the matching side stripe cover.  I'm terribly partial to the periwinkle blue.

    :)

I get sporadic meter issues across all formats the same.  However, it can be particularly frustrating in MPCs depending upon where the competition stands.

I find it all too coincidental that the swing meter started when I was two up, got worse when I was three up, then subsided when it evened the match out. Oh yeah, that is, until I got two up again, then it started again. All the while, the player I was matched against had no issues at all. Well, other than a poor shot when he was up one (that cost him the lead), but I didn't hear that it was due to a meter issue from him.

Sorry y'all, I'm a programmer and the statistical probability of this being random are so slight that it isn't even a consideration. It's pretty obvious that WGT just wants the rounds kept close and competitive. It's too bad they can't leave this up to the players.

So there's more chance you will see lag after starting 2up, I mean come on now. I've played ALOT of mp and stroke, there is very little difference if any. I've went on some nice streaks in MP, according to your theory that couldn't be possible. Like one of the other players mentioned, the load on the server is the #1 issue, and you will see that in MP, stroke, whatever. It will be less in tourneys or one player games just because there's one less player to drag it down. That's what makes sense, not the statistical probability of getting lag when 2up.

    nc,

Just sharing my experience and how I perceived it, nothing more. If it were attributed to server lag (or rendering slowly on my gpu) it should have also shown a loss of graphics efficiency, which it did not. Being my first MP round, I was shocked at the considerable difference between it, and the standard swing meter lag experienced in multi-rounds.

Even if it isn't programmed, which I am still not convinced of, it is still a big enough problem that needs to be addressed. I know that WGT has it on their list of issues that are being addressed, and I hope they weight it very heavily.

Wow, bringing up statistical probabilities based on one single game - you must be some sort of genius when it come to scientific method, and/or a complete lunatic....

Actually you are right - it's not random. MisterWGT has a button with your name on it, that he pushes just for giggles, that whacks out your meter. It's right next to Turbo button on the big switchboard there that puts the VEM on hyperdrive, maybe he got confused?

lol, the name calling sure offers you a lot of credibility. Do you have something to offer, or just a drive-by name throw?

I appreciate a little sarcastic humor just as much as the next guy, but never did I say the meter issue was directed at me. Are you good at crosswords too, or just fill in the blanks?

Explain that to some of the players I've smoked in MP 5&4.   Or other players where I didn't really start to play until the end of the game.

Maybe the VEM didn't think they were worthy opponents for me?

Or maybe it's because swing meter issues are more prevalent in multi player games?

I won't even get into how I have lag free games with certain players, while others I'm lucky to go more than 1 hole without seeing lag.
