zagraniczniak: I find topspin on drives to be counterproductive in terms of pure distance, but you may hear other views.
It depends on each hole.
Examples:
you have better chances to reach St andys #9 green with 50% top spin from Legend tees, than with no bs or some bs.
St andys #18 with full Top spin and 95% power you can hit the path and reach the green...
and the other day I tried a full top spin shot and made a 392 yrd drive by a lucky bounce.. it went to my notes :)
Back spin gives more loft, more flight, and les roll "better fairway controll"
Topspin gives less flight but mire roll "you can catch a lucky bounce in certain holes (st andys, Royal)
you need to try a lot of different shots, take notes, and you will know what is better for each condition and each hole.
