  My first paid tournie; never in contention BUT why was it won by someone at Master level who hit 5 below everyone else?

  The Master bit is, probably, because he entered the tournament when Tour Pro and played as a Master. All within the rules.

  This is how the tournaments work. Lowest score wins.

  Thanks, and I'm sure you're right - it's just that the timing looks a tad suspect.

  The point about the 5 shot gap was not "how come the lowest score wins?" but in realtion to the fact that everyone else more-or-less came in under the same blanket.

  WOW a 25 on ST Andy's at that rate he might be the first one to score a 49 on 18 holes!!!!!

  his low score is what likely bumped him to master.
