Taylor Made preferred irons

  With a desire to bump my little game up a bit, about a week ago, I purchased the top Rapture iron set along with a couple of wedges I believed would be in line. I now am certain the G10 Master irons are where I should have gone...and am going, but wish to compliment these irons with wedges that will fall in line with my next move. Any help with this would be appreciated. I am at Master level, and have a decent game.

  My wedges in my bag are a taylormade 54 degree master wedge ( hit 110), a 60 degree ping pro (hits 75), and a 64 degree ping pro wedge (hits 60).

  But i recomend that you buy a club that hits 100 yards instead of the taylormade master 54 degree wedge that hits 110 if you are going to purchase the ping g10 master iron set.

  PW is 115 so thats where your wedges start coming into effect. Every other club has a 15 yd increase so I went with a 100yd, 85yd, and 65yd wedges respectively. I just changed over less than a week ago and its been paying off so far. Wouldn't go back to the TMs. That wedge setup works for me, everyone has their own theory on what works best for them.

  OK, first impressions and what I get to work on. I got those brandy-new G10s all dirty at BPB for a few rounds to see what kind of trouble I'm now in until I learn them. BPB17 is no longer an issue nor is 3. 5 won't be either from the fairway. Rough-forget it, lay up. 10 and 11 are under control a lot easier because of that loft. First impression is good. 

  The biggest problem I had early was with 4 wedges I had 110 in covered. That was with a 122pw from the TM set. Now the G10s go down to 115 so the 110 Satin is kinda useless. It will probably turn into the 98Satin. I don't like the 15 yard gap between the pw(115) and the 9i(130) because 120+ yds out becomes a pain-back off the 9 or push the pw? I will learn but I think I'll stay away from the RGs for a while and just see what happens to the average. I'm also interested in seeing how my loosey-goosey style of play is affected now that the forgiveness tightened up. Oh boy...........

  Wedges are definitely a personal item.  It is what you are used to.  For me I use a 64°, 60° and 54° wedges not including the pitching wedge.  The respective yardages are 60, 85, 105 and 115.  So I opted for a 3rd wedge instead of a hybrid since the irons have a nice range of 115-210 yards. I definitely like the high trajectory combined with the GI-SD balls makes for a excellent combination.  However, it does take awhile to get used to.

  I recently acquired the TM daytona putter, excellent putter, but I miss the 45 foot scale.

  i use ping wedges 100 85 60, keeps my dists 15 yds apart covers most all the shots i see. happy hitting...

  I just did the reverse. Played a Guild match with RiftRaft, and he swore by the TM irons. I figured it was worth a shot, so I switched and bought all the wedges to fill in my gaps (110, 90, 77, 50). After playing about 30 founds on both Kia and BPB, I came to the conclusion that for me, personally, the G10's are clearly better. The higher trajectory makes a huge difference - I play with great balls, but the TM set didn't hold the green nearly as well. I agree with all the previous comments - BPB 5, 15, 17 are different with the G10. So are Kia 4, 5, 8. 

  I use the following clubs - TM 3WD (235), G10's, TM wedges (90, 77, 50). With this set-up, I generally cover all the gaps:

  PW 115, PW punch 98, 90, 77, 90 punch (71), 77 punch (63), 50, 50 punch (41). This gives you the option to go for eagles at Kia if the wind works, plus you can pretty much cover all the gaps from 115 down. Can't do that with the TM iron set.
