At the latter part of level 82 and into lvl 83 my putting has gone to hell. I had a TM Spyder putter and in lvl 82 began missing by inches on either side of hole, perfect distance. Also, when it was coming perfect, it stopped inches in front. 50% of my putts are 3 and occational 4, Before they were 1's and 2's. I recently got a Nike (L51) and the putting is no better.

My question is, is there a drastic increase in putting accuracy at these levels?

Also gotta say, I just got a TM R9 TP 8.5 and I love it. What a Howitzer.

Welcome to that vicious cycle where some days you can't miss and other days you have no clue.  Has nothing to do with the levels.  ;-)

I call it the Putter Pendulum Principle.  Picture a large pendulum swinging out to horizontal on either side - when the pendulum is at dead bottom everything seems to find the hole - at either end nothing drops.  Notice that this means the pendulum is moving the fastest at the bottom of the arc and almost hangs for a bit at the ends.

As YJ said it is a vicious cycle, but it will cycle back at some point - just not when you are seeking the last half stroke for your next tier or just starting on a new green speed from advancing.

I've just never putted this badly, missing 6ft is a regular event. I guess the only way is up, but this is ridiculous. I'm playing the St Andrews tourney with " tournament" green speeds and thats a whole other animal.

    thanx for the imput

I'm with you.  My rank was recently changed from Tour Pro to Master and my game has declined significantly.  I find it MUCH harder to ding the meter and my scores have inflated dramatically.  Unless I have recently acquired a brain tumor, the only significant factor is the change of rank.  Some of the score increase I can attribute to the lengthened tees -- chipping and putting, however, have also drastically declined.

If this is truly a pendulum... then call me Edgar Allen Poe -- cause my game has been in the pits.

Not sure about that Mate. I'm the same level as you and and am finding my putting is the same as ever....... an absolute nightmare !!

The worst thing one can do is over read, re-read and do brain science with any putt. Check it out, aim, and bang it.

I posted in the community help forum, but I have experienced the same thing in the last week since moving from Master to Tour Master.  But for me, it isn't just the putting.  My approach shots are all coming up short.  Same ball, same clubs.  It seems harder to "ding" the swing bar and when I miss the "ding" even slightly, the effect is more radical.  This is really showing up on the putting, however.  Before, I would 3 putt maybe once, or twice (on a difficult course) during an 18 hole round.  Now, I am 3 putting three or four holes with maybe a 4 putt thrown in.  My score on my favorite courses has gone up by six or more strokes.  It is not really that fun anymore.  Same guy, same clubs and ball.

Said that right, SP. The longer you stare at it, the bigger the break gets.  ;-)

Still think it's mostly in what the meter is doing on any swing on any given day. Some days the meter is like trying to hold a screwdriver by it's tip after it's been dipped in STP  There is absolutely no way you're going to ding that meter when it's acting like that
