Longwedge:
Any non-Legend buying a driver longer than 270 yards is in for a rude awakening once they hit Legend, because there will be no place to go to help you absorb the distance difference between the Master/TM tees and the Legend tees.
If you plan on playing this game and moving up in tiers as it's meant to be played the quoted excerpt from Longwedge is excellent advice. This game is a breeze from the upper tees and a cannon for a driver. Driver, wedge. Rinse. Repeat.
I see you're using G15 L50+ Irons. Since you're used to that meter the first thing I would buy instead of a driver would be the Burner 2.0 L79+. Those will get you more birdie opportunities than a new driver at this point. Once you get those you can more than likely drop that hybrid for a 3rd wedge and really get dialed in with your irons. And trust me, you will love the burners compared to those G15s. To be honest your weakness right now are those G15s. Look at the differences here.
If you are dead set on getting a new driver I would wait until Level 81 and get the new G20 L81+. and use it until you get to L88 for the R11. Yes, as others have stated, the R9 L80+ WILL indeed keep up with the R11 all day long. If, (that's a big if) you have flat fairways and no fairway bunkers or dog legs you want to carry.
Here's some holes that come to mind off the top of my head, BPB #4, #6, #9, #11, #15. Actually there's quite a few on BP that have those fairway bunkers/rough protruding out you need CARRY to clear. OCC has many fairways like this. As does CCC. Hell for that matter every course here does. The only course I think the R9 would be any advantage, and that would be minimal, over the R11 would be STA. I'm talking about CARRY. Where the ball first lands. Not how far it goes after bouncing. That is key. The reason you get that carry is because of the trajectory. Granted you need to know how to use the spin dot correctly to get these results.
A perfect example of this is BPB #9. I would much rather be outdrove by someone with a R9 a few yards on say, #10 instead of hitting my approach from 170+ yrds on #9 because I can't carry the bunker like my opponent with a R11 that leaves him a 140+ yrd approach.
If I were you I would upgrade my irons ASAP. And if credits are not an option I'd buy the G20 L81+ Driver high trajectory = Further CARRY as opposed to medium trajectory, 1/2 dot more precision, and 1/2 dot more forgiveness over the R9. When you reach L88 and get the R11. But I'm sure by then they'll have something even better than the R11.
