There was a post earlier today regarding racial abuse, but it was removed because the the golfer was called out by name.  It could just as well been a post about game abuse.  A certain player is milking the system shooting artificially high scores to maintain his Tour Pro tier level while shooting very low scores in tournaments to win credits.  Sandbagging at its worst.

While this player has not directly affected me I found his behavior to be abhorant and totally deceitful.  I can't let that go unanswered.

Below is the note I sent to WGT... I invite this player to respond to this forum post and explain himself.

"Hello WGT... as a long time member, having willingly spent alot of money, I have never written you about game abuse in my 3 years here, but in this case I felt compelled.

Please look at the account of XXXXXXXXX.  This is a player who blatently cheats the system... shooting high scores for average and to maintain his/her Tour Pro status, but shooting low scores in tournaments to win credits.

This is sandbagging at the most obvious and is totally objectionable.

I'm not requesting that this player be removed but that you intervene.  Perhaps you can set his tier level at what he actually shoots when credits are on the line.

Afterall, the USGA does this in their handicap system if tournament scores are severely lower than regular round scores.

    Thank you."

Where does WGT draw the line though?  A quick look through many players profiles (especially at tour pro and lower levels) will show scores for the same course with 6-8 shots differences.  How would WGT  decide the ability of the player?

I shot a 41 then a 34 today on St Andrews, back to back plays.   7 strokes less the 2nd time.  Over 18 holes this is 14 strokes and you could say smells of sandbagging. What was the difference?  First game was with the freebie St Pats day ball, the 2nd was with the free Nike balls for joining WGT nation.   Who would have thought balls would have made such a difference?

You have shot a 31 and a 39 at Kiawah.  Over 18 holes this would be 16 strokes difference which is quite substantial, almost the equivalent of hitting a birdie each hole instead of a par.

    Just my 2p.

Adramforall... close but no banana.  And my 39 was on the whacked out greens of Whistler.  If you could look at the player's score history you would easily agree.  42 to 45 to keep his tier high, but in tournaments he consistently shoots 31 to 33.

We cannot call out members here in the forum.

If you shoot me a message on my wall I will give you his name.  Many already know it.

DMM, I was compelled to look on your wall and voila...looks like you struck a nerve with the accused...lol.

He posted on ur wall about 5 times in a couple days. I, of course, was then compelled  to look at "his" page and found an example of what you mentioned on your post.

    Here it is:

Gotta love those cheaters.  I've asked him to explain himself and he simply won't/can't.

I invite you, and all others, to post on his wall and ask for an explanation.

Not sure why I care, but is there now a rule regarding not being allowed to shoot high scores. (NO) Sometimes I play drunk and would not want to violate a rule.

Furthermore I thought WGT fixed this sometime ago when after some set number of rounds your average will only go down and not up.

Furtherest furthermore, what exactly is WGT supposed to do, provide him/her with lessons or something.

Or is this yet another example of poor players trying to get better ones thrown of the site.

P.S.  His "Mom" reference on my wall is in reference to me asking what his Mom would think of his cheating.  I find this to be the ultimate litmus test as to the honesty of a person.  He failed.
