I have had one disconnection from the game in last week and two games where others did not return after their disconnection.   When the players did not return I could not finish the game and so in the space of a week my percentage finished figure has dropped from 97% down to 87% at no fault of my own.  This renders these figures meaningless.

    I agree..

There are a very lot of players here, they have the opinion to say to WGT ,                                 that they (( have ))to install the game new. From basic. And with IT-Profis.

WGT needs to better their servers.

    1. cat /proc/cpuinfo

    2. cat /proc/meminfo

Now the missing ingredient.......we just need to obtain root access to the servers so we can see their specifications....then perhaps we can comment on wgt servers' capabilities. I'm willing to wager they are pretty much  higher end servers because they'd need to be to handle the resources of this game plus the high volumes of traffic this site receives on a constant basis.

Until then though I'm gonna take a stab in the dark and say the problems are locally at your end because if the freeze ups are only happening to you or even a couple of people out of the many 1000's playing wgt, it's not the servers because it would be effecting everyone playing wgt.

And yes...to the OP....a decent thought out post.

Than i ask me, if its better WGT sell a CD to upload on the own server. For the basic game, and send the newest updates to the customizers ???

putting the basic game on cd and making it for sale in theory seems a good idea....then we could hack the program to switch wind off, stop balls from being lost and tweak out of bounds to make them in play and have drivers hitting the greens every time as well as sinking putts regardless of where they are hit . :)

good idea in theory....but i like the web based version better.

i think that was Chad Nelson's idea in the first place.....to be able to play virtual championship golf courses in HD graphics online via a web browser.

chad & the wgt crowd have done their marketing research. i can't see wgt releasing this game cd based.......that would be such a huge fail. there's a far great target market online and played via web browser & apps etc.

Thoughtfully consider the marketing aspects.  Would YOU choose to do it that way?

Then you're in MSLinks territory and off in a totally different direction. It's all about control. You can't have tbe's (Chad's) scenario unless you have total control over the game, not to manipulate it but to maintain the integrity of it. On top of that, your market is every computer in that market whereas a CD based product precludes those that can't/won't pay for a computer game.

A download for the game defeats the uniqueness of being able to play anywhere on any computer.

a ton of folks won't even pay for clubs or balls....so there's fat chance of them coughing up to buy a cd :)

no doubt you'd soon see cracked versions of the game available on pirate sites which is another good reason wgt won't go down this road....they've did their homework and well done to that.

it's all about keeping the control :)
