Congratulations to the 2019 Virtual U.S. Amateur Champion, birchi!

Saturday's second annual Virtual U.S. Amateur Championship was a thrilling head-to-head competition between four of WGT's top players from all over the world.

Live from the TCL Lounge at Topgolf Las Vegas, Young46 (USA), fmagnets (UK), birchi (Germany) and malini4life (Canada) competed for the 2019 Champion title. Also on the table was the chance to win an exclusive Virtual U.S. Amateur trophy, $2,000 in gift cards, a Phigolf WGT Edition and a choice of tickets to the 2020 U.S. Amateur or U.S. Open.

In the first semifinal, #1 seed Young46 beat #4 seed malini4life in a well-fought match between two highly skilled players, securing his spot in the finals.

The second semifinal featured birchi (#3 seed) upsetting the #2 seed (and returning Virtual U.S. Amateur Champion) fmagnets, putting on an impressive show.

He followed that up with another upset over Young46 in the championship, finishing 3 & 2. (In other words, finishing 3 up with 2 holes left to play.)

Quick facts about birchi: He entered this year's live event as the #3 seed, making the long 22 hour journey from Berlin, Germany to be there. He began playing the game as an alternative to playing real golf, which was too expensive as a student, joining the WGT community in 2012. Safe to say that his first appearance in a Virtual U.S. Amateur Championship event has proven to be a memorable one!

When your club enters the event, you'll be matched to play with a similar skill level club. Start playing! A timer will keep track of how much play is left in that Clash. Club members from both sides can play as many rounds as they'd like during that time using Club Passes and Superpasses to earn points.

WGT Virtual Tour Major: Oakmont Championship

Welcome back Oakmont by competing in the September Virtual Tour Major tournament, starting 9/1.

This is the last tournament of the Jul-Sep Quarterly Season, with an increased purse prize of 250,000 WGT Credits.

Post your best score by 9/24, followed by a single-play second round (9/25-9/27) and a single play third round (9/28-9/30).

The top 70 combined scores in each Pro-Tour Champion tier will split the total purse prize. Plus, the winning players by tier in each monthly tournament will also display a “reigning champion” icon next to their player name through the following month.

The four players going to Topgolf Las Vegas are...

After an intense bracket competition that started with the top 64 players from the Qualifier, we're down to the last 4 players in the 2019 Virtual U.S. Amateur.  

Top seeds Young46 (USA) and fmagnets (UK), 6-seed birchi (GER) and 16-seed malini4life (CAN) will be traveling to Las Vegas in September to compete live in the semifinal and championship rounds – which will be live streamed so you can follow along at home!

The live stream will include both semifinal matches and the final championship match, as players compete for the Virtual U.S. Amateur trophy, $2,000 in gift cards, a Phigolf WGT Edition and their choice of tickets to the 2020 U.S. Amateur or U.S. Open.

We've narrowed the field to the top 64 players (from eligible countries) from the Qualifying round in the 2019 Virtual U.S. Amateur.

These players have been seeded and broken into four brackets and will compete head-to-head over four days (8/22-8/25), single elimination style, until each bracket has a winner. 

These final four players will win a trip to Topgolf Las Vegas to compete live in the semifinal and championship rounds – which will be live streamed so you can follow along at home!

The live stream will include both semifinal matches and the final championship match, as the players compete for the Virtual U.S. Amateur trophy, $2,000 in gift cards, a Phigolf WGT Edition and their choice of tickets to the 2020 U.S. Amateur or U.S. Open.
