  • Race to the Top of the Leaderboard in CC Event #21

    07 Apr 2016

Ready, set, GO! CC Event #21 is going on now, time to round up your WGT Country Club...

Play today and tomorrow against other country clubs, competing for top leaderboard spots and in-game rewards including these flashy hot rod tee markers and flags.

    Play Now

CC Events allow WGT Country Clubs to compete against each other for golf glory and special in-game rewards. The club that earns the most total points from their Clashes wins.

Each Event is made up of Club Clashes that last for a limited amount of time (usually a few hours). When your club enters the event, you'll get matched with another club close to your skill level, and a timer will show how much time is left in that Clash. Club members from both clubs can play as many rounds as they want during that time, using Club Passes and Superpasses to earn points.

The 2016 WGT Virtual Tour continues in April with the Congressional Challenge. Play as many times as you want on (you guessed it) Congressional in the unlimited play first round, then compete in the single-play second round (4/26-4/30) for your share of the 100,000 WGT Credits.

Each month is another chance to earn WGT Credits and move up the Virtual Tour leaderboard, so be sure to start the Apr-Jun Quarterly Season strong by posting a score this month!

Plus, keep an eye out for new crown icons and even new WGT avatars, awarded to winners of monthly Virtual Tour tournaments and each Quarterly Season. The Jan-Mar Quarterly Season avatar is looking sharp in a Hawaiian print shirt – have you seen any in the wild yet?

    Play Congressional Challenge

The top 70 scores in each Pro-Champion tier will split a total purse of 100,000 WGT Credits, and all credits earned in each Quarterly Season are accumulated to determine your overall standing.

    25 Mar 2016

Don't miss the WGT Community Pinehurst No. 2 Easter Bunny Challenge this weekend, running Sat-Sun (3/26-3/27).

Calling all community "Egg-Xplorers!" Well-known WGT player, YancyCan, invites you to a virtual Easter Egg and Bunny hunt this weekend on Pinehurst No. 2.

That's right Pinehurst #2 is filled with rare hidden eggs and Team Yancy is dedicating this weekend to find them and wants you to join! Did we mention there's also a GIGANTIC bunny to find?!

    What you need to know:

    • The event kicks off Saturday (3/26) at 9:00 AM (PDT)
    • Log on to the [WGT Forum] and find the thread titled "Easter Bunny Challenge 2016" http://www.wgt.com/forums/
    • Follow instructions within that thread and submit your screenshots
    • There are various ways to win an assortment of prizes from Yancy himself – rumor has it that this even includes a BACON BOWL!

If you're unfamiliar with these hidden Easter Eggs (special gifts from MisterWGT), we'll let Yancy explain the history and give you all the details of this weekend event:

"TAKE THE PINEHURST NO. 2 EASTER BUNNY CHALLENGE

    Hosted by Team Yancy

In September of 2014, a WGT player shanked his tee shot on hole #5 & found an ornate "Easter Egg" next to one of the trees that line the sides of the holes on this world known golf course with such rich history.

Upon posting his game screen capture of this into the WGT forums, the community soon learned from MisterWGT himself what had been found:

"Very impressive find! When at Pinehurst, I kept hearing drunken local rumors of the infamous and elusive rabbit and its treasured eggs (i.e. alien pods). Little did I know that our team would have captured such a rare sighting... let alone a hidden treasure on all 18 holes!"

What followed was an almost 2 week-long drama filled explorations until all of the 18 eggs & the Easter Bunny were found and shared. The "Egg-Xplorers" would share their stories from out on the course and now it has become, and will stay, part of the epic Pinehurst golf history.

Now in 2016, we revisit Pinehurst No. 2 and invite those who have not seen this Easter Bunny (and those who have) to a fun weekend of bunny-themed golf competitions on WGT.com!

Join the fun in the forums and show off your skills: "SHOTGUN START" @ 9AM Saturday PST – Easter Bunny Challenges to be explained then

Find that pesky rabbit & post your own Pinehurst No. 2 Easter Bunny screen capture for multiple event chances to win an assortment of prizes - including some random prize drawings everyone who participates has an opportunity to win a prize!

How to enter and play in the hunt & challenges: Follow the main thread for this event in the WGT Forums – all entries must be done in the thread titled "Easter Bunny Challenge 2016" -- will be live at 9:00 AM PT!

This thread is open to all questions, comments and the likes. Help will be present almost around the clock thru the competitions in main thread.

HAPPY RABBITTING AND GOOD LUCK TO ALL!"

Special thanks to WGTer andyson for the event image above.

  • WGT19th Hole - toolman957: The World Traveler

    21 Mar 2016

The "WGT 19th Hole" series focuses on featuring the players, personalities and country clubs that make up the global WGT community.

    toolman957 - The World Traveler

This week's WGT 19th Hole is a fun one, in that the nomination was "crowdsourced" by the WGT Forum. There was an entire forum post dedicated to this nomination that was created by fellow players, agreeing that toolman957 should be the next WGT 19th Hole featured player. To give you an idea of what convinced us, here are some posts straight from the forum:

"Toolman957 is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. He is kind, respectful and generous, always willing to help and he is very humble. Toolman957 has helped me with my game in many ways and I consider it a privilege to play with him. He's legit, and the real deal. He deserves to be recognized by the WGT community because it's people like toolman957 that make this web site and this game great. I cant thank him enough for all he has done." - WGTer CEverett12

"Toolman957 is an asset to our Country Club and to WGT as a whole and I have yet to play with another player of his caliber that is as humble as he is. He is always supportive and helpful. He does so much for others without anyone even knowing and it's an honor to lose to him on a regular basis. lol" - WGTer TurtleFowler

"Toolman957 AKA Mike has been a good friend and mentor to me and my game. He's a stand-up guy always there to help." - WGTer offthedeck

"...His willingness to help other players get better and patiently answer questions makes Toolman957 a credit to both his country club and to the entire WGT community." - WGTer Nomarbob2000

There were pages of great comments about toolman957 – three to be exact – but we had to cut it off somewhere!

Known as Mike outside the WGT Community, toolman957 is a retired United States Air Force Veteran of 28 years and says if he could live anywhere in the U.S. it would be Maui, Hawaii, "...where a person can play a different golf course every day of the week." Which makes sense, given he's an avid golfer who has been playing since he was 13 years old.

When it comes to traveling the world, he has the map covered, "I've been stationed in Guam, Philippines, Germany, England and Korea. During my military career I traveled many places abroad, including Japan, Saudi Arabia, Netherlands, China and South America. I finished out my career after 2 tours in Desert Storm. I've been in every state in the U.S. with the exception of Alaska, hopefully will make it there someday."

When toolman957 isn't playing Pebble Beach, Kiawah Island or Bethpage Black on WGT you can find him dreaming of playing at his favorite golf courses in real life: Wailea Golf Club Emerald Course in Maui, HI or the Palmer Course at Wildfire Golf Club in Phoenix, AZ.

Do you have any advice for new players on WGT?

"Practice and practice, ask upper tiers for advice and play higher tiers as much as possible because eventually you will be there – sooner than you might think. Also try not to get too frustrated, everyone has bad days. Most of all, just have fun and enjoy meeting people."

Thanks for your service Mike, we hope you make it to Alaska soon! And when you do, we suggest the summer months where you can golf without snow.

PS: We reached out to our friends at Settlers Bay Golf Course in Wasilla, Alaska, who have generously offered Mike a round of golf whenever he makes it out there!

WE WANT TO GET TO KNOW YOU! If you'd like us to feature you or someone you know in a future "WGT 19th Hole" profile, please let us know at: players[at]wgt.com.
