  • FAQ: How do I Get WGT Credits?

    09 Dec 2009

Players often ask us how they can get WGT credits. Credits can be used to upgrade equipment in the Pro Shop, enter premium tournaments, and challenge other players in match play games. The game and all the courses are free to play, but credits allow you to get a richer experience at WGT.

There are a couple of ways you can get credits at WGT:

    • Purchase them - the old-fashioned and easiest way to get credits is to purchase them. $1 will get you 100 credits, and you can use any major credit card (even pre-paid), PayPal, and many international payment methods. To buy credits, go to the Buy Credits tab of the ACCOUNT section. There you will be able to enter your payment information and specify the amount you wish to purchase.
    • Earn them in tournaments - we offer a variety of monthly and weekly free tournaments where you can earn credits by placing in the top 70 on the leaderboards. We also have monthly course sweepstakes where the winners get a few hundred credits each. In the tournament calendar, credit-payout tournaments will have a CR icon in the Purse column.
    • Earn them in match play games - you can now challenge other players for credits in match play challenges. You and your opponent decide how many credits will be challenged, and the winner will earn the credits in the pot. Read more about match play challenges here.
    • Complete offers - you can now take advantage of offers from our partners to earn credits. Fill out the offers you are interested in, and get credits deposited into your WGT account. To do this, go to the Buy Credits page and click on "Change Billing Information". Click on the "Complete offer to earn credits" button under "Select Payment Method", and complete the offers you are interested in. http://www.wgt.com/user/offers.aspx

  • Aussie Double: Adam Scott and Robert Allenby Win

    07 Dec 2009

    By The Armchair Golfer

It was a good week for Australian golf. Adam Scott won the Australian Open at New South Wales Golf Club, his first win on his native soil. Scott’s 15-under par total  gave him a five-stroke victory over fellow countryman Stuart Appleby.

Scott must feel a tremendous sense of relief after such a discouraging season on the fairways that at times has included heavy criticism by the media.

"I’ve worked really hard even though I’ve played terrible all year. But it pays off. You’ve got to stick with it," Scott was quoted as saying by the Associated Press. "This is going to be very sweet and something I will treasure for the rest of my career."

Greg Norman, who was widely criticized for picking Scott to play on Norman’s Presidents Cup team, presented the trophy. Both men must have been beaming.

Appleby fans must also be happy to see their man contend after his plummet to No. 137 on the PGA Tour money list. He and Scott can take some positive vibes into the 2010 season.

Meanwhile, in Sun City, South Africa, Robert Allenby won the Nedback Challenge by beating Henrik Stenson on the third playoff hole. Allenby has been playing solid golf in recent weeks, sharing the 36-hole lead at the Castello Masters in October and the first-round lead at the Dubai World Championship in November. It was his first win in four years.

Based on what I’ve read, many Aussies were annoyed that Allenby, a man known for his feistiness and contentious comments, wasn’t playing in the Australian Open. That’s understandable, but they still might take national pride in his triumph in Sun City. Two tournaments on two continents with two Australian winners. That’s good stuff for the Land of Oz.

Good to know: the signup deadline for a multiround tournament is usually one hour before the end of the first round. For example, Round 1 of the Dec Multiround Open ends on Dec. 10 and Round 2 starts Dec. 11. That means the deadline to enter the tournament is Dec. 10 at 11PM Pacific Time.

  • Game Tip: Removing the Flagstick

    01 Dec 2009

Some of you may find it helpful to remove the flagstick before putting, and we've made it simple to do so. Simply click on the Flagstick icon in the upper right hand corner of the game screen at any time to remove it. When the flagstick has been removed, a red slash will be displayed over the icon. To replace it, click on the icon again. The red slash will disappear, and the flagstick will be replaced.

  • System Update - 11/25/09

    25 Nov 2009

Here are notes from today's system maintenance. While we make an effort to include all updates made to the product, please note that occasionally some changes are unintentionally omitted.

    • Multiplayer loading was modified and in some cases it will increase multiplayer swing meter performance.
    • You should no longer receive a message saying you've earned credits in a match play challenge when no credits were entered in the challenge (this was a messaging issue, no credits were actually exchanged).
    • Messaging was corrected so players dropped from stroke play games are no longer considered in determining the winner (this was a messaging issue, no stats were affected).
    • Your match play awards should no longer disappear after you play through a multiplayer round.
    • You will no longer receive extraneous "New Personal Best" news feeds.
    • You should no longer see the text "NaN" in the score animation at the end of a match play game.
    • You should no longer be able to equip putters in your irons slots.
    • When you change your avatar's appearance, it should update in the game as well.
    • The invitation time out was fixed so you will not be disconnected from a multiplayer game when you have multiple WGT web pages open on your computer.
    • Multiplayer lobby chat bug is resolved.
