Hi all - Lou here ... hoping to bring the hard core WGT members some excitement.
In 2010 - 32 of the Deviations players (16 teams) invited 96 WGT players (48 teams) in the very first Alternate Shot tournament on WGT. In the finals, the team of Cyl6 & Bartmania prevailed over Deviation teams Coolswing & Imcoola (2nd) and B0geybuster & Losersss (3rd).
In 2011 we challenged members of 8 country clubs (Transgressional, Electra, English Lakes, Elite, Italian GC, YBR, Cosa Nostra and Norman Web Coll) to a combined 10 player stroke play tournament. After 8 weeks of exciting play, with hundreds of WGT members contributing (and a bit of drama) Deviations came out on top - barely.
For 2012 .. our very best players have agreed to put their reputations on the line ... and put themselves in an underdog position ... by challenging "The WGT Community" to a match play tournament. I would like to invite the WGT community to get together --- and field a team of 16 All Star Players to compete against the Deviations best.
I know we will be huge underdogs as there are hundreds of excellent players and dozens of First Class country clubs out there ---- Transgressional, Elite, Electra, & English Lakes, just to name a few country clubs can all field teams to rival ours. But in the spirit of community fun we are ready to take a thumping while giving it our best shot. I think we can set up some matches that the hard core WGT players would love to see.
I will be the non-playing captain of our team. Let me introduce the members of our team and some of their accomplishments.
The challenge will consist of three 18 hole match play rounds. Twelve (12) players from the team of 16 will play 1 on 1 in each match. Round 1 = 1 point, Round 2 = 2 points and Round 3 = 3 points. Ties will split the points. 72 total points will be available and the team that collects 36 ½ points will be the winner. We are hoping to start early July ... the entire challenge should take no more than 3 weeks to 30 days ... 7 to 10 days for each of the matches to be finished.
As the underdogs --- I will choose the 3 courses to be played and I will ask the opposing captain to give me their lineups first so I can do the match ups.
A very simple scoring system, a very simple tournament to understand ... and some VERY EXCITING match ups which I'm sure you can all see.
So in the spirit of WGT Fun and Excitement ... how about it folks ... can the community come together, choose a captain and field a team to beat up on Deviations ??? We look forward to your responses.
