taking away the gift cards will also increase the amount of credits getting sold in the "black market"...think this decision could backfire in the long run...but look forward to seeing and hopefully tee'n it up at celtic manor...interesting to see what the cred price will be

Removing the gift cards is a strange idea as it is the only feasible way to cash in your credits.  The rest of the items in the Elite Collection are useless as 99% of players here will never reach the the credits required.

This is in essence a gambling site & like other gambling sites when a certain limit is achieved then the player can cash in their credits.

Regarding the customised Avatars, this should be an automatic option and one should not have to pay for this.

It seems that since there are less courses coming on stream player interest is waning thus less is being spent and WGT bring in items at an unnecessary cost to try & boost revenue.

There has to be an incentive if you want people to continue spending money & see a return.

Agree with everyone saying it's a stupid idea to get rid of the gift cards and agree with StevenHarkin about the blackmarket selling. Most people have got paypal accounts and it doesn't take much to transfer the cash over to someone in return for credits.

Would be good if folks could cash out their winnings just like they do at a casino, which is basically the same as this site except the roulettte wheel's a golf club and on here you take a huge blow trying to cash them out.

I'm glad I've never ventured down the amass credits route and feel it for those who have.

One thing which intrigues me. Why should anyone need to cash in creds to speak to Chad.? I hope all businesses don't start charging fees to speak to their representatives regardless of their position in the company. Putting it mildly, that is such a bad concept.

Maybe WGT can include "Charity" donations in their Elite section....where players can donate creds to worthwhile causes. At least their zillions of credits would hold more meaning and serve a decent purpose.

This recent Newtown tragedy comes to mind. I'd donate to that cause for sure. Or the recent NY Hurricane fiasco.

A year ago I would have laughed at that (black market credit thing) but a few months back I was approached regarding this very thing.

    BolloxInBruges:
Gotta say I'm very disappointed to see the gift cards go.  Not sure I understand it from WGT's perspective.  At the current exchange rate WGT can't be losing out on much to the elite collection.  Can't imagine more than 20,000$ had been paid out in 2012.  If there is nothing appealing or realistically attainable in the elite collection I will go back to gifting away credits to my friends that put real $ into the game.

I couldn't agree more but WGT has a solid history of taking away any of the appealing prizes people want.  I enjoy the game, the competition, and trying to accumulate enough credits for a gift card.  Take them away and much of my motivation to play will be gone.  All of the high earners should do their best to fund all of their friends game so we can keep these credits in cyberspace and maybe they'll get the idea.

just don't ask me for credits.  I've gone from clearing 2-3k credits a day to losing 300-400 a day and only have 2k left.  Thank you WGT meter!

    WGT History

    1. Took away nice prizes like real clubs, coach bags, Play with the Pros tourney.  2009

    2.  Cut prize winnings for free tourney by over 60% making it impossible for those who can't compete in Ready Gos to earn enough credits for pro shop purchases.  2010

    3.  Gave us the Elite Collection at ridiculous return rates but we accepted it because credits could be earned doing something we love to do.  Gift cards were the only attainable and appealing item in the shop.  (I'd be curious what else has been purchased in the Elite Collection other than gift cards).  2010-2011

    4.  WGT takes away the one carrot left on the table being gift cards.  Polite for WGTto give us a warning but I feel sorry for those people with 130K credits who won't be able to earn enough to cash in by Jan 9, 2013 especially since WGT took away bigger Ready Gos and the tier specific ones take forever to fill up.  2013

Sam and Jake as well are both right on this one.

It seems strange to take away awards, especially when you are only paying out about 10 cents on the dollar for them.  People with huge credits will then just start to gift them to WGT players which takes away $1 per $1 out of WGT's pocket.  My business sense tells me that this isn't thought through very well.

I applaud the customized bags and avatars.  I bought the pink shirt and bag just so my guys wouldn't look like everyone else.  As Jake mentioned above the only real reason that many people play credit games is to earn a gift card and to keep themselves in balls.  The people who have a mass of balls or credits will just quit playing those games which also cuts off a revenue source.

WGT maybe as a part of your open positions you should post the need for a CFO and by the way I'm not interested.

I'm not yet good enough to amass credits.  I'm good enough to partially support my ball habit, though just bad enough that eventually I have to deposit real money for balls, etc.

That said, anyone looking for a target to spend some of those soon-to-be-useless amassed credits on, I am available. :)

3 Pack of Callaway Tour i(s) Balls (L33+)

    Starting at 250 Credits
    I use those.
