The Nullabor Plain is renowned as one of the the driest straightest, longest most boring road in Australia.
The Nullarbor Plain is part of the area of flat, almost treeless, arid
or semi-arid country of southern Australia, located on the Great
Australian Bight coast with the Great Victoria Desert to its north.
Many warnings are issued before the attempt to drive across. ensure to take plenty of water in case of breakdown, plenty of fuel & tell authorities you're making the trip.
In Summer the Nullabor can reach temperatures above 40c (103f) for days on end.
That hot on a wide open plain that some have been known to fry an egg on the white paint of the road stripes!
Its a long drive.
Finally you think there might be something to see!
But thats rare..
.
.
About half way there are signs on the road 'scenic lookout'
You're thinking.. WTF... what you gonna look out at, out here!!
here is a link to google maps where this is.....
Load that link...
....get your bearings and zoom in.....
This is where the scenic lookout will take you.
The Great Australian Bight
- (called that as it looks like a 'bite' taken out of the bottom of Australia)
A friend of mine is about to do the trip across the Nullabor, told him to make sure he checks out a couple of these 'scenic lookouts'.
He will.
