I'm interested to see what people think of the this idea...
I would like WGT to give CC members the option of not just creating a tournament for club members but creating an invitational tournament, whereby they could send an invitation to other players on their friends list.
Obviously there would need to be some regulation on how many members could enter and play in a tournament and I imagine that it would be taken out of the limit for club tournaments hosted (unless this was increased).
This would give clubs and members a lot of options currently unavailable. Actually I was motivated to write this post after reading a recent thread about the sad passing of a well-respected and much-loved member of the WGT community.
Many contributors were petitioning WGT to host a memorial tournament. I could appreciate the sentiment but I could also see that for several reasons it could put WGT in an awkward position. However if WGT allowed club members to create invitationals, the host could start a thread in the forum to announce the tournament and from replies of those who wanted to participate send out invites to the tournament. This would allow members to host a memorial tournament. If WGT staff wanted to they could also show their support/respect by participating in the memorial tournament.
The obvious advantage of allowing club members to create invitationals is that it would make tournaments between country clubs much more convenient to arrange.
Anyway I just wanted to put it out there and see what people thought...
