    Fourball Match C - Daskino & Matildalgaly vs ab1983 & philbrown4

    ROW won 2&1

(sorry all, Phil's connection crashed just before I could sink my par putt at #17)

A very enjoyable 4B match. We all struggled with our starter putters, missing some easy (and not so easy) putts, but the company was a real fun.

Mati started very nice with a great 2nd shot at #10, then we missed two putts inside 10 feet to take a sold lead at #11 and #12 . Phil drained a par putt at #14 to bring the match back to AS and after another missed birdie-putt at #15, I had a bit lucky bounce with my second shot at #16 to stop the ball on the green inside 6 feet.

I read the very first nice putting line in all the match to take the lead again. And at #17, Phil's birdie putt attempt didn't break at the end and Mati was cold enough to drain his 5 ft. birdie attempt to give ROW the 2&1 win.

TYVM again Phil and Ab and GL in your next matches (hey Ab, we'll be on the course very soon again).

And now, some stats for Corwyn :)

Well, that was a fantastic match, a real back-and-forth encounter, with some superb play especially early on, and some holes won through great course management, and no end of drama on the greens, with some clutch putts and unlucky lip-outs.

Right up until the last two putts, we could have had any result, so in the end, a half point for each team for an A/S conclusion was perhaps the fairest way to finish.

Here's the card, and I'll add more details soon...

Also, Dave twitched the game, and the stream is archived here in his past broadcasts (available for 2 weeks, I believe):

Thanks everyone for a cracking match, played in great spirits. Very exciting stuff!

    --------------

#1 Team USA went left with 3rd shot approach bouncing down hill, but DD made great up to a couple of feet. C's approach was on but 54ft past, great lag from Lou, hole halved with short bogey putts  Halved in BOGEY

#2  2nds both on, US 58ft away, ROW 29 to right; US unlucky not to bounce closer. Two good lag putts, Halved in PAR

#3  AB on 22ft short, DD v close with birdie attempt; C on past pin 14,  L just misjudged break Halved in PAR

#4 AB got brutal side-bounce with 2nd lay-up shot and went into brush by bunker. DD couldn't get out, then AB could only punch out. Meanwhile ROW safely up left, Lou's 3rd unlucky not to roll down all the way; C's birdie putt lipped-out  but ROW win with PAR 1UP

#5 C got a little lucky with 3rd shot in, pulled it but had allowed so much margin it came out good, 11ft  below left. DD real unlucky with long range effort from far right fringe. Lou made 11ft putt!   ROW win with PAR  2 UP

#6 C left lay-up short of ideal, forcing L to try 59punch which went long. C overhit par attempt from there for lip-out. D played nice Lob Wedge to 6ft or so past pin, and Ab converted for par save. USA win with PAR  (ROW 1 UP)

#7 fabulous approach from Ab from 90-odd yards to 3ft par save DD; C went long with his 3rd, and Lou missed nasty 16ft curler   USA win with PAR (A/S)

#8 Key hole here as US could have maintained momentum. DD hit beauty 3rd to 1yd, rolling back off hill, wow!. Lou's approach unlucky to bounce way right to fringe, and C lipped-out again from 22ft: too hard once more. But astonishingly, US 3-putted from 3ft, and ROW stole the hole in PAR. ROW 1UP

#9  C used contours beautifully with 3W to 1yd, while Ab was pin high 13ft right. DD missed his attempt, but so did Lou with pesky 30ft scale starter putter (those are not easy!). Halved in PAR

#10 C again left L too far way for L wedge, and choked SW went 6yds long: C missed 19ft. Meanwhile DD had played another beauty short shot within 6ft and Ab buried it. US win with PAR (A/S again)

#11  L into bunker with 2nd, C punched out left and L played beauty to 2yds; AB unlucky to bounce away from green with his approach, DD flopped to 8ft (also unlucky to catch top of ridge). US missed, but so did C with brutal 5ft huge breaker.  Halved in unimpressive DOUBLE BOGIES.

#12 C's approach used contours to 6.6ft but pin-high left, while Ab played stunner to 3.5 past; Lou's birdie putt slid by, while, DD sunk his. USA win with BIRDIE (USA 1 UP)

#13 poor 3rd from C trying to bounce into bank, but overdoing it; L's lag reached top of ridge but didn't come down from 56ft leaving 11ft, and C lipped-out again (still not quite getting pace right). Meanwhile lovely lag from DD from 45ft secured another hole for USA with BOGEY. (USA 2UP)

#14 Challenging course management hole! DD's drive went left and bounced out of brush into Soft Sand (or what they found to be really "QuickSand"!). It took Ab & DD 4 shots to get back to the fairway and they carried on through sheer bloody-mindedness.  L played a fantasticly accurate t shot to forward tees, and even managed to land the ball right on a tee for me to bomb a Driver down. L put our 3rd safely on, and then just to rub in how unlucky we'd been with other putts, I sunk the 34ft par putt which wasn't in the least bit needed, lol! (At least it saved us finding out if Ab & DD would get single figures!) ROW win with PAR. USA 1UP

#15 C pushed t shot short, leaving Lou in awful spot: his flop went 8yds long (impossible to stop it). From further L, Ab also short into wind, but DD played sweet pitch from 11yd and Ab made 6ft putt for par and win for DD. C pulled attempted par putt and missed again.  USA win with PAR (USA 2UP)

#16 Nasty wind meant tough to reach fairway: DD pulled drive into sand, while Lou made it safely. C's 3W came up just short of good range, leaving Lou with another punch instead of flop distance. Found right fringe with it... Meanwhile DD & Ab got on in 4, 2yds past, but DD just missed 6ft bogey try on low side. C had come up just short with his 22ft fringe par putt. ROW win with BOGEY. (USA 1UP)

#17 C played safely left fearing couldn't reach right side of green: on but 62ft away! AB went for pin but came up short in bunker. DD's great escape surprisingly stopped short in fairway/fringe short of green, and Ab got it to 4.5ft past. Lou's lag went 8ft past, and C missed another one with lousy late click! Saved when team USA missed their 4.5ft bogey putt. ROW won with BOGEY. (A/S)

#18 Both teams made a bit of a mess of this hole, and each had chances. C surprised to find lay-up shot be way short and dangerously close to right fairway bunker; left Lou no choice but to play left of green. Meanwhile DD cut it too fine with his 3rd and found sand short of green: great out from Ab got stunning bad luck by stopping on hill short of green; C made mess of long flop shot (forgot to account for sideslope, doh!), leaving L 13ft putt for the win. DD's flop from top of hill nearly goes in but runs 6ft by. Lou's par putt lips-out and it runs 4ft by. Ab buries his tricky one, and C follows suit, for a deserved half in BOGEY and an ALL-SQUARE finish. 1/2 pt to each team.

Great Tyger! Thanks for the news on that match.

Can I just double-check the times with you though...? If I'm looking at it right, 3pm WGT time is 22:00 UTC, which will be midnight for the Teutonic Two (Jorg & Marc) and just after their normal YES availability.

And you do mean this coming Sunday, yes? Sunday 5/24.

This match is proposed for Saturday 5/23 at 15:00 UTC (8AM WGT time) but Russ now unavailable. Need USA sub for Russ!

Thanks Tyger, but the latest I hear is that they are trying to schedule this match with all 4 of the original participants for Saturday 5/30 at 6am WGT time instead.

Apparently, only waiting on Ben's confirmation.
