OK, technically I suckered for an early driver when I played a couple of years ago, but I'm returning now and enjoying the game much more.  My key concern is that with my current driver and 3 wood, at the pro level, I am not able to get on the green in 2 on the longer par 4s.  So I'm thinking first priority is driver and/or 3 wood.  I should hit level 34 today, so I'm considering the L29 R11 driver and L30 3 wood, but my concern is the meter speed of 3.5.  Granted, it is both more precise and forgiving than some other options, so I think it's probably worth a rental at least, but let's just say I am not a ding player.  I play on a tablet and still get pretty excited if I actually ding.  The other driver that peaked my interest was the L37 Ping i25 driver, which has a friendlier meter speed at 4.5.  I can't seem to find many comments on that one in the forums. Also looking at M2 at the same level.  Could even pop for a full set of those at 2500C. Certainly open to other suggestions as well.

Beyond that, I'm thinking about either the L19 spider or L35 ghost spider putter (the ghost costs twice as much, is it worth it?) or maybe wedges.  I know you guys are big on wedges. ;-)  I gather that I can make the starter irons last quite a while.  I did find the L13 Srixon balls worthwhile, as they seem to not be as prone to running completely across and off the greens!

    Thanks for any thoughts.

Generally, you don' really neeeeed a club upgrade until the Master level -- unless you just have money and credits to burn.

If you can wait until then the L48 TM driver will last you right to Legend.

The L30 R11 3W is a nice pick.  I used it until Legend too.

Another good pick is that L35 Ghost Spider putter.  Its the only other putter I've bought apart from my current one.

The R11 iron set is pretty good, but the real ones to get are the L59 Pings -- again will last you to Legend tier.

The lower level TM or Cleve wedges will also do fine until Legend.

IMO save your credits and get that L48 TM driver first and go from there.

Generally, buying cheaper clubs available at lower levers just ensures you will be looking to buy some more when you move up a tier or two.

You are about 30K XP's to lvl 48 and 70K to lvl 59 approximately  It's well worth the wait as those clubs mentioned are game changers.

One exception is the L30 TM R11 3W.  It's a pretty good club for the price.  With a distance of 227 yds you have to get into the 40's+ to find a better club.  The lvl 35 ghost spider is the first putter I bought.  I also used it until I reached lvl 70 and bought the Versa.

For some of those holes where you can't get on the green in 2 learn course management and play 3 shots to get on and as close as possible.  Be happy with a well earned par, or even a Bogey after a 2 putt.

The big question is how many credits you have to spend.  You can get the R11 3W (395 cr) and the mid level Cleveland Wedges (995 cr each) now.  You will hit lvl 35 before too long and the Ghost Spider (800 cr) becomes available then.

The TM mid level ATV's will be available at lvl 38 and 39.  The clevelands have better specs but cost double the ATV's.  The spacing on the CW's is more uniform than the ATV's.

I never used those CWs, but I have the top level ones.  You might find that the change from mid level to top level ones is easier with the clevelands.

I hope this helps a bit without being too confusing.

Thanks guys.  That helps me form a plan.  I'll rent the R11 to make sure I can handle the 3.5 meter and buy it if I like it. That should get me closer to the green on those long par 4s.  I'll buy the ghost spider now, then look at the mid level ATVs in a few days when I qualify.  I'll hold off on irons and the driver until I can pick up the "game changers" later in the game.  Thanks again!  That helped a lot.
