I would like to start by congratulating The Georgian on yet another decisive clash victory regardless of how advantageous the course selection through which it was earned.
Now, on to the business at hand. As you all can see we, at The Penalty Box, have discussed this matter of clash course selection at length within our club. I personally have written to members@worldgolftour.com twice in the past proposing a course selection system that many of us believe would truly create a fair and honest competition in the club vs club clash event. The proposal is exactly as Williams and Nancy have outlined above. WGT selects 6 different 9 hole tracks and rotates through these 6 tracks every 4 hours so each is used twice throughout the duration of the event. Every club that enters into a head to head matchup within each four hour window plays the same course. This is the ONLY way to ensure a completely level playing field in this competition. This also begs the questions; 1. How many messages has WGT received with this same proposal? and 2. Why have they not yet made this change?
I am certainly not a programmer by any stretch of the imagination but I have a hard time believing WGT lacks the resources/ability to write the code to accommodate this adjustment. Is it possible that WGT prefers to keep the course selection “random” just in case they feel the need to manipulate the competition? I am certainly not a conspiracist either but what other possible explanation would prevent WGT from adopting an obvious change to level the playing field in their longest tenured and most prolific club vs club competition?
Lastly, what is it going to take for them to recognize the issue at hand and make the proper adjustments? I can’t help but think a boycott of the club vs club clash across a number of country clubs would hit their profit margin hard enough to initiate change. I would venture to guess thousands of cc passes and hundreds of balls are used by big clubs in the 48 hour event. WGT is most likely already seeing a massive drop in the use of cc passes and balls since eradicating the “XP Exploit” so an even further drop in the consumption of these commodities in the clash would probably have their accountants trembling in their trousers with the additional drop in revenue.
