No it doesn't work. You can punch it with the driver of the fairway, no airtime, but a lot of roll. You'll still get farther with your 3 wood. There is one thing you can do though most people don't know about, hit Alt+4 while on the fairway and you'll pull a screen up where you can put a tee in the ground, then the driver will work.
