With the L59 G20 3 iron, for a 210 yd shot with full backspin and callaway(s) balls onto a level green, yes it will stop with just a few feet of roll if you ding it.

but not stop on an elevated green?  So I still gotta carry a high lofted hybrid?

If i have to carry a high loft hybrid then the L59 G20's aren't worth it to me.  That is what I'm doing now.

I answered the specific question, but I probably should have thrown in some opinion as well.

I used the R11 full set from L32-59, when I switched to the G20 full set.

With the R11's I could stop the 8-PW, but for uphill approaches I got used to balls rolling off the back with the other irons. With the G20's there are only a few holes that will happen. The high trajectory makes a huge difference. You can go right at the flag with almost every iron shot.

I really liked the L32 R11's, but the G20's are _much_ better, and much more fun to play with. And as it starts to take longer to gain levels, it might be months before you can buy something better.

I'd recommend buying the whole G20 L59 set.

OK that helps.  The clubs I have are the L63 med traj TM TP's... 210-122.  What is great about these clubs is the backspin rating... i know its only half a ball more than the L32 R11's... but they stop way, way better.  6i-PW stop like darts most of the time to most surfaces.  Sometimes even the 4i and 5i stay up (but not like darts)... but the 3i-5i never to elevated greens... and never with a tail wind... to any green.  If I could just make these clubs have high trajectory, and keep all the other characteristics about them, I would be ecstatic.

I've rented the L32 R11's just out of curiousity, they don't stop anywhere near as good.

What I'm getting at is that your description of the L59 G20's is based on your experience with the L32 R11's.

Regardless, I can't wait to try them.  lol.  I just hope the 3i is more like my R11 210 yard hybrid... nice and high... seems to stick a lot.

I'm sorry, I just looked at what you had equipped before I replied, and you had the R11's at the time :)

I have never tried the L63 med traj TM TP's.
