I like putting on fast greens - in fact, I hate playing anything slower than "Very Fast" - but if you're gonna host tournaments on greens faster than VF it should be possible to at least play a couple practice rounds on those greens before you have to go play them in a tournament.  Not a big deal for the guys who play tourneys all the time, but for guys like me, it's a major adjustment.

I mean, you wouldn't ask PGA Tour pros to go out and play a tournament on greens they hadn't yet had a chance to putt, right?  Same should be true here.

You make a good point, there is not a tournament speed in practice mode.

As a member of a CC you'd have the opportunity to set up tourneys with T'speed by yourself.

You may even set up your own CC.

what for? I know that now there are 4 different "TOURNAMENT SPEED" and they never tell what is the real speed you start playing with, after you made the first 2-3 putts you relize that is

TM "tournament speed", for TM's and some R&G and other tournaments like Sunset classic

Legend "Tournament speed", when playing MP, Alternate this applied for legend and when a TM play a legend

Legend slower "tournament speed" some ready to go speed are slower but not like TM's speed.

TM  slower "tournament speed" last month St Andy's back 9 ready to go had it. very slow green almost like very fast.

Also I saw 2 different championship green the last month:

whistler back 9 r&g had a very slow championchip green

and the whistle 1000 cr r&g had an ice championship speed

At the end I started to like Very fast, fast, standard and slow...why? because is only one speed and if the game says is that, you can trust the speed :)

From what I can tell in the Open greens, WGT has incorporated all green speeds in the putting elevation. It goes as follows on uphill putts,

0 elevation = "Tour Master tournament" speed - This is the control speed which everything else plays from.

+1 elevation = "very fast" speed

    +2 elevation = "Fast" speed

    +3 elevation = "Standard" speed

+4 elevation and higher = "Slow" speed

    Downhill putts,

0 elevation = "TM tournament" speed (mentioned above)

-1 elevation = "Legend tournament" speed

-2 elevation or under = "Championship" speed

This is why it seems so difficult to gain control of the putting speed. Its crucial that the putting elevation be taken into account at Olympic. It also explains why a lot of putts are coming up short on the higher elevated putts, or the "yips" occurring.

This is just my opinion and not proof of how the putting is set-up in the Open at Olympic.

I haven't been here long enough to test all the green speeds. I have noticed Tournament speeds to be slow , fast, very fast and super fast during the same round. Was doing a match play against my fellow member and the speeds were not consistent at all while we played. Keeps you on your toes for sure.

I tend to agree with you Richard - except for the "Fast" and "Standard" entries Richard.  However, I have also had putts that were downhill 3 inches over 10 feet that struck about 5 or 5.5 feet in power (normally plenty even for "Very Fast" greens) come up short.  Putting these greens is VERY tricky and the speed almost has to just be remembered on a green-by-green basis.
