What's with the handicaps at Cabo on the back 9?  They are all listed as 5 on the scorecard.

    hi

i suspect it's because cabo is not played at such green speeds in real life, so handicap is not applied...

I don't get it.  And what green speeds might that be?

And while I'm asking, the handicaps of these WGT courses, I assume that the real life course determines the handicap for the holes, right?

    Right, to my best knowledge.

Alas, the WGT courses have been modified in individual hole Pars at some places according to the pro tourneys (e.g. OLY #1), therefore these handicaps aren't accurate.

OTOH, they are for use in amateurs' handicap calculation which doesn't apply at all in this game - don't look on them too much. The difficulty of holes changes very much due to tier (length) and equipment (length, trajectory, spin).

cabo and whistlers mainly resort courses, and therefore, the actual green speed on the course, is somewhere between fast/very fast (in real life).

that's why you have such huge slopes on the greens, because in real life they don't play as severe.

that also explains why when you move speeds to tournament/championship on those courses, the greens become extra extra nasty, hence any real handicap is thrown out.

So why isn't the standard set-up for WGT tourneys on those courses fast or very fast - rather than nearly un-putt-able tournament greens (at least on Whistler)?  Kind of takes the fun out of playing...

it's 1 of those differences between real life gold and a simulation. with best clubs, on those fast speeds, the course before much easier. Don't get me wrong, we always try to randomize green speeds in tournaments, but I play cabo from tournament speeds and when I am close to ding, most of my approaches are inside 5ft.

Same cannot be said about recreational golfers on the real course. I know it's not ideas, but sometimes can't do much else.

Thanks, Icon - appreciate the response as always.  Playing as a relatively new Legend, I like tournament greens in general, and they're not too bad on Cabo.  And I really like the fact that you've made Whistler available as a free tournament format for the month - so I've tried to play it several times.  But several of the greens (mostly on the front 9, plus #12) behave so differently than the rest of the courses in tournament mode that 2 out of 3 times I end up abandoning my round.

Don't want to sounds like I'm whining though.  Overall, I love WGT :)
