So I was playing a practice round on Oakmont. Got to the 5th hole, a par 4, and was scanning around different cam angles prior to my tee shot and notice off to the left there are some tee boxes.  I don't know exactly why, as it doesn't add any benefit only a different shot angle, but I decided to try and drop my tee shot on one of the tee boxes.  To my surprise I actually pulled it off.

To my even bigger surprise when I lined up for my second shot, I was told I was hitting from the rough, 30-40% nonetheless.

Since when did the Oakmont Country Club start keeping the grass height of their tee boxes at like 3 inches. I m seriously confused now

I do have a couple screenshots. nOt having much luck pasting them

You cannot paste them directly to the post. Upload the pic to a website, like tinypic.com.. Later take the link it generates and click on Insert Media above here. Paste it and you should be good.

Thanks for that info Soyel.  Ill give that a go.

Gotta say Im even more wierded out with Oakmont.  2 holes later on 7 I totally miss hit my drive and went in  the rough and bounced through and came to a stop on what was clearly the first cut of rough along the fairway.  When I got out of my club car to evaluate my 2nd shot, I took a look at my lie and find I am actually in the fairway.  Not  to mention , I thought I saw another post regarding a stalker on #2. I am not sure what they are doing over there at Oakmont.

If you land on a tee box for the hole you are playing the lie is showed as tee box. However if you had on a tee box of another hole you will always get rough. That I suppose is because that your shot is deemed to be way off line and if you had missed the tee box it would have been rough.
