    i never go for it. as jim says lay up get the eagle with the flop or pitch shot done it lots of times that way. far beter than in bunker tough birdy from there never mind an eagle.

    I guess you need the R11's. With my clubs I just head for the middle of the fairway, then go for the eagle.

    i have found with head wind hit the fairway about 90 yds from the gren and let it roll the rest of the way

    And if you miss long, the return is a CTTH shot, a very makeable pitch, chip or flop for eagle.  :-)

    IMO this is the best approach for BP 4.

    Going off to the side fairway, leaves you a fairly steep left to right slope.

    Off the back is a straight uphill. Far easier.

    I'm a sucker for punishment, so I ALWAYS try to keep it on the green on approach.  It has worked 3 times in my career - and I have made 2 eagles by putting here.  Everytime I have kept it on the green, shot was into a headwind, with Nikes and R11 clubs on full backspin.
