    MBaggese:
I use almost full back spin at about the rated distance from the hole...if you land 4-5 yards short, ball will still roll out to the hole...even missing right or left, is still a much easier two putt than front position.

    Is this from the trap?

No..I edited my response on last page..from fairway, because (IMO) no reason to go for the trap with the back/middle pin position

Which is what Courteney was inferring, ostensibly thinking the discussion revolved around the front pin. I was trying to figure out if she actually played the back pin from that trap.  :-)

Well now that I have figured out that a 175 yd club doesn't always go 175 from the fairway full backspin(make that all clubs) and that I am better off using a lower club with topspin and roll than letting up on the longer club at times, I might score a little better if I ever figure out the spin on the 100yd and 80 cleveland wedges...playing STA a lot trying to dial them in but still real weak at 9o-94/112-116/70-73 yd distance...either doesn't spin back enough or way way too far, punch shots run out or don't run enough, weakest part of my gams right now...if the yardages end up right I have a good round, if not I totally suck...lol.

2 more questions....tried it once and wiffed but can you hit the driver from the fairway?

also I don't trust the chip and pitch on a lot of shots around the green so I use a concocted version full shot 64 degree late to real late hit around the green instead of the chip and pitch, it works from the fringe but once i must have been barely on the green and it whiffed, do the chip and pitch work on the green???

You can only punch a driver from the fairway but it'll probably go less distance than your 3 wood. You can punch a driver from the tee if you want a shorter distance or if you want to roll the ball up a hill to a pin.

On the green as a rough guide you can punch with your wedges but double the distance shown.
