Yancy, there is a very good reason you love em - there are 4 women in the group ahead wearing mini skirts............did I really just say that?

30 mph is not a heavy wind in Scotland, more of a light summer breeze.

I've never read anything to suggest that this is the case.  Furthermore, the Old Course is public, nothing like those snobby bastards at Pine Valley, Cypress Point and Augusta :P.

I do not have any In The Drink Awards. My theory on how to get one is to hit my tee shot at St. Andrews #1 into the stream. That gives me two shots to sink the ball from there. I can only do that if I have 20mph or more at my back. I have hit the stream a few times, but still have not been able to get my award.

(Yes, I realize that this is one of the most pathetic comments ever made on these boards.)

Yes. Also good is the 6th at Congressional. If you put your second shot in the water there, you will most often have a drop in the fairway about 50 yards out, lying 3, up and down for a par and the award. There's a par 5 on Merion (the 4th hole) that works similarly, with long second shots rolling into a water hazard in front of the green, which should give you a drop just behind the hazard for an easy up and down par.

Thank you. I will try that one.

In a good news / bad news update, I was gifted some nice golf balls by one of the WGT guys (long story). With the last of the three great balls, I smashed the ball a mile at St. Andrews #1 and unexpectedly hit the water, losing my ball. Even so, I was able to make par, earning that In The Drink Award. Three cheers for me! Hip-hip-hoorah! Hip-hip... oh, nevermind.
