On the cusp of Remembrance Day let us also not 4get the new
devastation and tragedy that has befallen the wonderful people of the
Philippines. Having lived in multiple locations in both Canada & the
US, I have come to appreciate what an important & vibrant element
of N. AM society are the people of Filipino origin and ancestry. Warm,
inclusive and hard working, these people, our friends & neighbours now
trust that we will respond generously with heart & wallet to the
relief aid needs of their ancestral homeland and our staunch ally.
Prayers are welcome too.
Sidebar: t'would be very cool if WGT could set up a mechanism wherein
we could donate credits which would be reconverted to $$$ and sent to
appropriated aid agency (e.g., Red Cross). They could also (&
hopefully) match donations in whole or part. The enormous & global
PR factor is huge & should assuage any corporate hesitations. Most
importantly, it's a fast effective and painless way to bring some relief
to good people in real pain.
