Front pin: Smart shot is short then pitch to pin. guaranteed par / possible bird with a little practice. Although I often tend to have a go at the pin with second shot for the hell of it. (which gets me a bogey sometimes)
    Pitch: http://www.wgt.com/replay.aspx?ID=5d361041-77b1-4f6b-9365-a2a100cb590e
Back pin: Only thing I can add is that there is a sweet spot if you land at the pin. So long as wind is not pushing ball left / forward too much.
Obviously depends on balls/ clubs. This shot was with R11's not the new irons which have more bs.

I would bulldoze that green flat-er .... and #6 ... some greens are just insane.

    List:

    • Merion #5
    • Merion #6
    • Bethpage #15
    • Cabo Del Sol #18
    • Many on Whistler but #12 stands out like a sore toe ....

Well i aim short and left if it's the front pin, then flop close. If it's the back pin I go slightly long and flop close again. You don't want to leave a putt over 3 or 4 feet on that hole.

I agree with CF. There are many more par & birdie chances and rarely more than than a  bogey, with the flop in hand.

2ft or less putt on champs can be deadly.

Suppose I agree too, but I always aim right (front pin) and try to get the ball rolling up and around towards pin.  One day I will get it right....lol

Most of the time it will roll off the green, then the flop comes in handy.  I found using the other types of shots...  if you don't hit it hard enough, the ball will roll back to your feet.

Yep, for the front hole placement just land short and right of the hole:

Jason, thanks very much.  For the back pin you want to use backspin and land on the right edge of the green just past the hole.  The ball should funnel down and leave an uphill putt for bird.
