    Ducati916:

How about a "best of recovery" course...the mapping is already there....mulch at Kiawah #7...bunker at St. Andy's #17, drop zone on Congressional #10, big swale on RSG..that par 4...etc, etc....plays as a par 3.....easy to create....

    Yo!

Even though it's a good idea,I think I speak for many when I say we much rather have some new 18 hole stroke courses before we get any more best of courses!!

Pebble Beach will be here in another couple of months and even though it is an 18 hole par 3 course Bandon Dunes will be here shortly after that. Then in the spring we will get Chambers Bay.

This 'Best of Recovery' course sounds good to me. Not to be a buzz kill on the idea, but would this become sort of CTTH in that once you have taken the time to figure out each hole it would become rather mundane?

I don't disagree...but, the same can be said about the full play courses as well to some extent.  The thought was that this might be a good fill in until the next full course.

Best of recovery - great idea.

I also just realised, as we already have St A mapped, I wonder if we could have the backwards course too. I believe once a year the R&A play a comp from the first tee to the 17th green, 18th tee to the 16th green, and so on finishing from the 2nd tee to the 18th green.

Maybe all the photos are there somewhere, and it would make a fun and interesting addition.

    I agree concerning the fun.

But, this subject produced a reply by Chad lately who pointed to the fact that there are by far more forward FW shots than backwards. Seems impossible with reasonable effort.

Yes, there are enough long shots looking back down the fairways from the greens to cobble something together, but there probably won't be shots looking backwards from the tees down the previous holes, eg. 2nd tee looking to the 18th green.

Wish they'd thought of it while they were there!!

Could create quite a bit with existing for eg 9 hole "best of dog legs" . Still it will be good if we do get a full new course.
