No, you get no distance spin or control.

It is impossible in some tournaments to even get on par 5 fairways from the tee. Basically they say play for free, but if you want to compete you have to spend money. Even when you buy balls you only get 3 and they get ruined fast.

    Orobsenoj:

I'd like to know what some of the guys who have club upgrades think are the most effective or "game helping" ones. Should I get a wedge or a driver etc.

Wedges will help you significantly. They help u stick it close to the hole for your pars and birdies.

You can succeed with the default clubs. I'm a Tour pro with 67.88 average at level 69. Not impossible to do, but if you have credits, I'd better clubs.

got to master with the defaults plus a purchased 3 wood but once there, had to upgrade to reach some of the holes

then had a top 5 on a weekly single play at master level with the purchased 3 wood,  purchased driver and the rest of them kmart clubs but needed a career round to do it

just played a guy at matchplay who was a master and he played with all starter clubs (drivers, irons and putter) and he shot +1 for 8 holes round the back 9 at kiawah in low wind which I thought was mighty impressive (and he had a big lip out as well)

He did have a wood/hybrid into virtually every hole.
