  I was watching fmagnets stream, and he has an interesting way of hitting (to me).

  He slides his mouse cursor along the bottom scale, releases, places it above the ding mark, and then strikes. (Hopefully, that's clear.)

  I, on the other hand, use the swing scale on the left side (i.e., the circle). I pull it up, release, move my cursor somewhere in the vicinity of the ding mark, and then strike.

  My method seems to work well for me. I've tried and failed miserably trying fmagnets method.

  What method do you use to hit the ball?

  Also, I noticed that fmagnets and other players often putt in a unique fashion.

  Instead of using, for example, a 10ft putting scale for a 5ft putt, they might use a 20ft. Or they might use a 50ft scale for a 10ft putt.

  Why is that? Is there any practical reason (e.g., do you ding more)?

  When I first started, I used the vertical slider on left side of screen. I didn't realize you could do it any other way. After the first month I realized you could hit by dragging the slider to the left. Since I started that method, made Legend in just under four months. But use which ever method that works for you.

  It makes sense to me the way he does it. It gives him a bigger reference point and forces focus on the important spot. It  also forces your eyes to see the moving line in your peripheral vision as opposed to following it from the top.

  I have always focused on the ding line and let the meter line enter the vision. Sorta like the real thing-you don't follow your clubhead through the swing, you stare at the ball and let the clubhead enter your vision and snap your wrists at the right time.  :-)

  It does make sense (the fmagnets way), but I tried it for a week and failed miserably. I guess I'm just accustomed to my way. Whatever works, as the previous poster mentioned, I guess.

  Putting is not a exact science. There are many way to putt which work. As far as fmagnets using a scale larger than what is needed. It is what he is use to, I guess.

  The bigger the scale used the less the meter has to travel. Shorter meter travel the less chance for a meter skip or a brain freeze.

  AND the meter is moving slower closer to the ding line using the bigger scales with the shorter travel.
