    tinchoss:

    Hi there...

    I'm looking for some suggestions regarding equipment I'm carrying. I currently have:

    * Ping Rapture V2 (L24) Driver (Shoots 240 yds)

    * WGT Starters Plus (L3) 3 Wood (Shoots 205 yds)

    * Taylormade Rocket Bladez (Graphite) (L15) Iron Set (Shoots 200 to 110 yds)

    * Ping Tour Wedges 64-60-56 (L41-42) Wedges (Shoots 90 to 60 yds)

    * Taylormade Spider (L19) Putter

    * Standard balls

    What would  be your next upgrade? Wood?, Driver, Balls?

    Thanks in advance

    Martin

    Bet you`re glad you asked

    Solarflares:
    It's just overly knee-jerk stuffy to suggest I'm way-off YJ

    Don't be putting words in my mouth, I didn't say that.  Be happy I was civil with your silly stats reference, too. That doesn't even belong in the discussion. Yours are downright pathetic for someone who professes to know so much good advice. They aren't watered down by 2-3 years of learning with inferior equipment. In your case, they show you can get up and down with any regularity. Under 50% scrambling and sand saves? With only 682 rounds? Ya, right., you know what you're talking about.

    "Lesser-beings and pauper-types." Speaks volumes to how full of yourself you are.

    And whatever my faults in the delivery of information to you lesser-beings and pauper-types - it don't change nothing.

    I don't often post in the forums but seriously some folk need to have a look at themselves.

    Had a look in this thread last night and saw a jaw dropping post, came back today and it had been edited, the poster will maybe know what i am talking about and should be seeking help.

    Hi everybody...

    First of all I'd like to thank all of you for your suggestions. I've taken down some notes and I'll be trying each of the clubs you recommended so as to see which one of them fits best for me. For sure I'll also be doing some math so as to make sure I've got credits for all of them.

    I'm glad to receive not only feedback about clubs but also about balls, as I was kind of wondering how much impact they would have. I believe that's also answered as well.

    Finally, I also found an excel file with all the clubs available (or at least I believe almost all of them are there) which will help me track them all.

    Thanks again to you all and I'll be glad to share a course with you in the near future.

    Martin

    While I didn't see Solarflares rant that he pulled, I guess I shouldn;t be surprised.   Often people who can't counter an argument any other way go after the speaker in a personal attack.  This is especially true when the voices in your head are so loud that you can't or won't hear what anyone has to say.

    There are many words for people who think they know everything and won't listen to any other opinions.  Most can't be used here.  Crackpots is the only acceptable one that comes to mind.

     I invite anyone who wishes to do so to compare his stats to mine.  Also compare his best scores for each course to mine.  I don't claim to be a great player...I'm just a guy who has good days and bad days, like most of us.  And passed along what worked for me. Key words, "What worked for me".  My experience only.  I never attacked Solarflares' advise or him personally.

    Solarflares thinks he's one of the if not the best player here, when in reality he's not qualified to even carry Fmagnets Virtual bag.  And I'm sure his school reports had the notation "Doesn;t play well with others".  You Sir have become your countries version of  "The Ugly American" of history on this site.

    Enough said.

    Hi everyone…

    It’s been a couple of weeks since I started the post and wanted to let you know how things move forward:

    • Driver: L48 R1 Driver seemed to be everyone’s suggestion. I’ve compared it to the one I had, rent it and after that I purchased it. As Robert1893 said, it consistently drives 275 yards and I got to have 300 yards as well. Speed meter is faster than previous one so I still need to get used to it, but I’m still getting between 75% and 80% of drives on fairway. Also another difference from 220 or 230 to 270, 300 is that almost no course has such a straight fairway, so you need to start thinking on what to do when turning right or left. As a summary, I’m getting 30-40 additional yards, which make me be able to get to green in 2 shots, so birdie chances are higher.
    • Irons: Ping G25 at L59. I got to L59, tried them, and they are quite an upgrade compared to the ones I had, which were not bad at all, but accuracy is even better with these. I’ve played a couple of courses on weekly tournament and I’m leaving the ball no further than 4 or 5 yards in the green (birdie chance is even higher).
    I still had some credits left (I sold all my previous clubs) and I made two additional purchases:
    • Wood: Ping G25 Wood at L58. With driver shooting 275, and Irons up to 215, I needed something to be in the middle. 235 yards, with 3.5 precision and 4.0 speed meter for less than 500 credits was a no brainer.
    • Putter: TaylorMade Ghost Spider Putter (L35+). I had L19 Spider and even though it may not be the best choice, it was a solid upgrade from the previous one for the credits I had (more precision and balance, same forgiveness and speed meter). Alternative was Ping or Daytona, with higher precision, but lower forgiveness and speed meter.

    So far they seem to be working for me (it’s only 3 days, but I’ve managed to get 40 (-5) in March Bop5 9 Hole Unlimited, 33 & 34 (-3 & -2) in Wk 10 Free Multiround Best of Famous and 31 (-5) in Wk 10 9 9-hole Unlimited Play. Typical result for me in 9 holes would be 0 with -2 or -3 being the best I was able to get at any time so I’m really happy with all purchases.

    I just wanted to thank you again and let you know how things went as you were really helpful.

    Ghost spider I used till levelled past the 70s. IMO it's a great putter and by far the best of the "low credit" putters. Stats on it are not much less than a lot of the expensive ones.

    Good to hear
