    petervcpt:

It appears (on paper) to be a clear advantage over my existing iron set (Ping G25 Level 59+).

Or should I just hang on a bit, and learn how to actually play approach shots properly?

I posted this in another thread, but it also fits here. By the way, I also had been using the Ping (L59) irons before I purchased the Nike irons.

As I got closer to level 85, I started debating whether to buy the Nike irons or wait until Level 90 for the TM irons. Well, when I leveled up to L85, I got the Nike irons as a free two-hour rental. After the rental period expired, I kept getting the purchase message for a bit. One time, I accidentally clicked on "yes."

But I still hadn't really decided if I was going to buy them or wait until I hit Level 90 and get the TM irons. I even sent an email to customer support saying I purchased the irons by mistake. While I was waiting for a response, I thought about it some more and thought "I might as well keep the irons," which I did. So I sent them another message and said forget about my first message! :-)

I'm glad I did. There's a lot of golf to be played between level 85 and 90. I never regretted purchasing the Nike irons. They were great irons. But now that I have the TM irons, I do like them better.

If you haven't already done so, you might want to check out this thread:

    Best of luck!

Well,  I can't add much to what was already suggested club wise, but I will say this.

Since the OP is a TourMaster,  I would suggest waiting until making Legend or darn near close to it before deciding.  Will give him some time to level up and then make the decision considering the back tees and what level is reached when that time comes.

Both the level 85 Nikes and the level 90 TMs work fine when playing from the blacks.

They're both accurate and forgiving. The TMs just have better brakes.

Thanks for all the helpful responses.

My reflexes ain't what they used to be, so the TM 90's with a 3 speed rating are always going to be way too challenging for me.

I'm going to hang on for a while, (I think Hpurey suggested that?) until I get closer to Legend, before buying the Level 85 irons, and maybe learn a few more tricks on how to land on greens softly with the ones I have.

Thanks again to everyone, your posts were really informative.

    Cheers,

    Peter

    Howzit everyone

So I'm wondering, now that I have reached level 85, whether I should get the NIKE VR Forged Iron Set (L85+)?

It appears (on paper) to be a clear advantage over my existing iron set (Ping G25 Level 59+).

Or should I just hang on a bit, and learn how to actually play approach shots properly?

I'm not looking for a magic bullet, just want to make sure I'm making the right decisions.

    All opinions welcome.

    Cheers,

    Peter

the nikes are a very good set of clubs if you are looking to upgrade from the g25's which i  had the G10's coming up the ranks but nike was not  available back then so i got taylor made. i had to upgrade to keep up with other legends since i was legend at level 85. i currently use the level 100 nike irons and had the level 97 which was a great move from the taylor made irons. The Nike vr forged are the way to go.

    Happy Golfing
