When I first started playing this game, I too looked at the scores and said...those guys have to be using a cheat program. Now after having played the game for a year, I look at my avg and some of the scores I have and say hmmmm, I must be cheating. LOL I consider myself to be just an average TM at best. So are the low scores there you bet they are. Are there cheats out there you bet there are. But most of the guys in the qualifier are legitimate great players..JMHO

It is possible  I finally shot a -11 61 on St andies and missed 5 birdies by total of 8 inches. And 2 eagles that turned into birdies.Yes it is possible. The next day cant shoot a 72 lol so it all depends.

Look, I have obviously struck a nerve here - and - that was not my intention.   I realize that there are many, many good players.     And, after playing here a bit longer - I now agree that sub 60 rounds are possible.

But, 51's?    31's on CTTH Tourneys?   And under tournament conditions?

I think your anger should not be vented at me - rather the schmucks that download these gimmicks and take legitimate great play and make a mockery of it.

I was bored one day so i decided to look up the word "idiot" in the dictionary. Low and behold there was pictures showing what an "idiot" really looks like. I think i have seen quite a few of those pictures on this web site.

Then what was your intention?  Blanket accusations of cheating are bound to strike a nerve.

The lightbulb goes on!!  The more you play...the lower you score.

I think we all know whose 51 you're referring to...and that was NOT under tournament conditions.  The Ketel course was almost 1100 yards shorter than legends normally play (6489 vs. 7583 yds).  That's an average of 60 yards shorter per hole.  Not exactly the "tournament" conditions you refer to.

I casually browse the scoreboards and am somewhat surprised, but I guess I shouldn't be. I've done some work modding various computer games (mods on HL, HL2 etc) and it seems that every game has a core group of people who play alot, to the point where they can exploit every advantage and have both a feel and a memory for the game. It's amazing how good people become at a game if they play it enough and have an aptitude for it.

I'm not willing to put that much time into it. I'm content to play the game at an acceptable level a little at a time steadily. I like to see improvement but don't ever see myself in that skill set.

    lvietri:

Bristoluk .. you shouldn't be ashamed of defending anyone.    The OP should be ashamed that after signing up in November 2010 .. he has only played three 9 hole games, and one CTTH.  He clearly has no clue what the courses look like, or how the premium clubs / balls react.   He hasn't put in the 5,000 plus games that the good players has to understand the courses and how to hit each shot with each club.

Actually --- i'm ashamed that I'm even giving him the time of day to comment .... he is clueless.

your  right lvietri u should be ashamed!...to believe in these consistant low scores is utterly stupid and ridiculous on ur part...lol..to think u can even get though an entire course without so much as a shutter or flat out metered swing that would totally screw up any chance of 1 of these unrealistic scores...everybody and thier brother knows that this site can and has been hacked with overlay tools to auto-click mouse swing dingers!..all u have to do is look up wgt cheats and pay the price!...when it comes to clueless u might want to lookin the mirror...lol...happy golfing!..or should I say happy cheating!..which r u doing????

Exactly.  I assume most of those missed birdie and eagle chances were putts? Nice round anyway though.

To all the babies out there, this is where the game is really won. Almost anyone with decent gear can hit the greens in regulation, the players with very low scores are the ones who make 99% of their putts. Take St. Andrews, hit all G.I.R. and make 17 of those putts and you're 17 under, a 55 round.  This doesn't allow for an eagle on either par 5 either, so a 54 is well in range for someone who can putt great.

And that's something no swing aid is going to help you with. Sure, a ding every shot will improve your score but you have to be able to read greens to shoot really good scores.

The top players here can. So they do. And some who can't cry about it.

Your intentions might have been good but you painted to many people with a broad brush. Are there people that cheat...Hell yeah! The sandbaggers are worse than anyone else since they take money from people. I was not angry but rather insulated to be compared to them. Nothing personal man, I understood your intent but next time try to use a little brush instead of a roller. Ohhh, you might be right on the scoring thing but anytime you wanna play just look me up. I love a good competition game.
