I am by no means complaining, discrediting, or claiming cheating in any way, but how in the H E Double hockey sticks do you shoot 18 under par at Congressional???? How do you shoot 18 under par on any course? I know that the answer is to be insanely good at this game and have played for a long time, but COME ON!!! LOL To qualify for the Virtual US Open you have to shoot a 61??? And it could go lower by the end of the cuts. I would suggest to WGT to maybe do some type of leveling here. I know the whole purpose is to get the 150 best players to play the "US Open" just like in the real world, but come on. It's the same guys everytime that win the big prizes. I play a round or two a day and have been since December. That being said I think I have progressed pretty quickly for how much I play. But these guys are like gods of virtual golf...more titles then Nicklaus, Palmer and Woods. Questions for you "Pros", do you do finger-eye workouts and drills? Do you have a swing coach? lol

Anyways, I was flabbergasted by seeing such a low score. Congrats to everyone that has qualified for the Virtual US Open!!

There's your problem/issue/etc (not meant in a bad way)...

But say you are a Real PGA golfer, you probably devote most, if not all of your time to hone your skills.

Sure, there's a lot of people who have to pick up kids, take out the trash, bail out a buddy in jail, etc., and cannot devote as muct time to the game here on WGT to get as good as those on top.

So, two things here IMO, one, you have to ralize in this day and age (internet/video/etc) there are some really good "gamers" out there thst can figure things out quickly, adjust and get it dialed in.

Then there are those who after countless number of rounds have found the magic jelly beens and build on it.

So, I guess to sum it up, you have to be able to "pick it up and go" or you have to put the time in to make it happen.

Trust me, one or two rounds a day would not scratch the surface of the best guys/gals on this site.

Good luck with it, other than the first day of quals, I can't get through 6 holes to even get a sniff at the cut line!

Everyone should shoot the best score they are capable of based on how the game is set up. It is a problem, however, when the game and virtual equipment are set up to allow unrealistically low scores. We recognize that this is fantasy golf, not real life, but WGT does strive for realism as one of its guiding principles.

First Its 17 under par at the moment.  Congressional is a par 71.   Second, they do this by knowing the course inside and out.   They know and remember all or most putts and if they don't know it exactly their skill to read the green gives them a good chance at bird from anywhere on the green.  They hole out many times when in trouble and they spend countless hours doing this.

Might be enough for normal play, but this is the US open.    Right now many are spending hours upon hours playing the course so that when the finals arrive they know the course inside and out.

    Good luck,

I'm starting to think there's some arbitrary assistance with the better equipment quite separate from actual user skill, as in a larger 'window' for success, so to speak.

You pay for the precision, distance and spin all at the cost of meter speed.

Only 1  round of 55 has ever been posted in tournament golf by Homero Blancas who played in the 60's and 70's. A 56 was posted by Jay Osman in Sept 2007, playing from middle tees on a 6,000 yrd course. Shigeki Maruyana posted a 58 in 2000 in a US Open qualifier. Are these scores posted on WGT realistic? That would be a big NO. Regardless, a BIG CONGRATS to the guys posting these, that is dedication and I wish you all luck in the tournament. I'll be at the sky bar on the 18th with my Jack on the rocks.

WGT has addressed this issue by adding more levels and tiers, the question is..... how do we seperate the pure gamers from the occasional players. Don't know if there is an answer to this one. While the graphics and course set ups are truly realistic the pure gamers are just carving it up, while the rest of us just plod along. It's not fair to punish the great players because of this, but eventually something will have to be done. Maybe tweeking the tournament format or something will help with this. It will obviously take time also. Patients on this issue will be needed by all. Hopefully one day everyone will have a shot at winning one of the big ones. Just not right now. I try to stay out of the large tourneys for this reason, but, I can't resist a challenge so I try to compete anyway. It's worth a shot anyhow.

                                                                                Aloha all.

Ever notice a good number of the top money winners are in the same CC, The Deviations? Look up the word deviate and you might get a clue.

There is actually a 50 posted in one recent tournament. 22 under par. 50 perfect shots. 14 birdies, 4 eagles (assuming eagles on par 5's, even the un-reachable ones), or some other crazy score. I don't care how long you've been playing or what kind of memory you've got, best equipment, best balls, that is not happening from the Legend tees. Don't even try to rationalize it. I'll never be convinced.

Let's see it out in the open, on a neutral computer, or share the wealth.

The day the course was released I logged in at 8 AM and low and behold the leaders score was in the 50's. How demoralizing this was for me. I'm an old dude with waning eyesight and reflexes. I still try to play that course tho to no avail. Maybe once I can shoot a couple under par.lol
