I saw you comment about this in another thread also.  Jim responded well stating that 57's and the like are nothing special.  This holds true at your tier and equipment too.  Take a look at the Virtual Tour leader board right now.  I'd suggest looking at some of Poldimaers many videos.  He's probably one of the lower Ding rate players amongst the top dogs but his scores don't show it.

Your stats show that you average 17 feet from the cup on your approach shots.  Your putting average from that distance, is only 4 %.  That could be part of your problem  I'm not bashing you in any way, but you have to improve either your approach shots, ( getting closer) or improve your putting from that distance.  Best bet, obviously is to improve both, then your scores will drop dramatically.

Others have already addressed the ability of some to shoot in the 50s. There's not anything necessarily "up" with someone who shoots that low of a score.

But I did look at the player who I believe you're referring to. I have to agree that something seems a bit odd there. The player has 1 friend and yet is part of a country club. But when you look at the CC, there's little activity by the members, and (IIRC) everyone is listed as a recruit. All of that seems odd.

And you're correct. The person's clubs are not ones that you would expect of a person who shoots a 58. But it's possible that he caught lightning in a bottle for one round and went low. It happens.

I once shot a 26 on the back 9 of Royal St. George's from the tips (tournament greens) in pretty high winds. Also, I have a 59 on Oakmont (championship tees and greens). And I'm not that great. Every once in a while, a round will come together for me.

To throw out there, that's not how the stats work.  Take a look at some of the elite guys and you'll see near 50% putts made 0-5F.  Those guys aren't missing 50% of their 5 footers ;).

What you can do is ADD up all the %'s (0-5, 5-10, 10-25, 25-50, 50+) and that will let you know how often you birdie.  The op is at 54% so on average he birdies 5 out of every 9 holes he plays.  The top guys on the VT Leader board are in the 77% range or 7 out of every 9 holes.

And I piggy back Roberts sentiment.

my avg to pin approach is 14 ft....putting inside 10 ft is poor also ....i can shoot 56 on a good day......the elite players avg are much better than mine.....51 or 52s is no surprise to me that they can do that.....

Try not to worry about other players. Focus on your own game

Heh, I suggested that in his first whine thread so he ran to a new one.  LOL
