Golfspieler:
First of sorry about your unlucky round Chris, I'm sure next round will be better as your a very good player. Now from my experiance @ WGT not much is more frustrating in this game than high wind, nothing is more unpredictable and inconsistent. I know youv'e played St . Andys high wind many times and gotten gr8 scores, but how many times did you play St. Andys with high winds and just leave shaking your head. I think its always a bit of a lottery when playing in high wind , not only in regard to catching the best wind or worst wind for a particular hole but also having the wind do what it shows. So often when you hit a shot the result makes no sense for the shown wind, and very often the wind looks totally differnt depending from which angle you look at. Just today at St. Andys 11 the wind looked like a cross wind at the tee, so I couldn't figure out how in the heck my ball almost flew off the back of the green. But when I get to the green the wind looked like it was pointing @ 2 instead of being a cross wind, which would have been nice to know at the tee lol. So I think playing in high wind just lends itself to very strange things happening Chris, just like in the Open on the weekend it's very unpredictable and it's very easy to get frustrated. No need for you to apologize to anyone for being pissed, it's your right as a golfer. I swear the whole time I'm playing about this or that, so what ? Anyway best of luck in the next round.
That's probably what got me so much, the wind speed & direction totally different to what was shown. Aiming a touch into rough on drives to compensate the high wind, but dinged drives going straight to aim point. But i was still able to par these, and even managed 5 birdies. The hole's i bogeyed we're 1st, due to meter skip on drive (only 1 of round LOL, what a place to have it) 2nd due to the putt shown in replays 7 foot of power given, ball travelled 25 feet See here (this was unexplainable) & 3rd was also shown in replay, when i had headwind maybe betwenn 5 & 6 oclock, i aimed left of 9th green at bunker, knowing angles on approach are strange, but my ball when hit started from pin position, not where i had aimed.Take a look. Other than thesew unexplainable shots, i was quite happy with my round and was still at -2 after those three bogeys, until 18, where i got a similar unexplainable shot similar to 9m where it went no where near my aim point and into wind. Having had 3 other shots from 13 to 15 yards in my round, i used exactly the same shot as i had for other three in which i was 2 yards past, but here i only went 8 yards. This was also strange, but the other 2 shots, a chip & putt that didn't work were my own fault. Its funny though when trying the flop again, this time (same meter power) went 2 yards past??? No 2 shots are the same LOL, i've now learnt this...
I know it was meant to be hard conditions, which i probably handled o.k apart from a few unexplainable shots which are the ones i'm moaning about. But wind not acting true is the best solution and thanks you guys for putting things straight, and pointing things out, and thanks Lou, i never knew wind effected putts before. You learn something new every day...And as Priestess says...Who cares anyway LOl, its gone now, no more from me on the subject, sorry for boaring you all...Thanks for listening, you've all been a great help....
And well done people who did score well, watch out round 2.......
Help....If you have a straight putt with 30 mph sidewind, does that mean you need to aim left/right of pin?
