all those players shooting in the 50s were at one time a hack, amateur, pro, etc.  they spent a lot of time perfecting their abilities here.  as tarheelsrule stated, check out the forms for tips on how to improve your game and you will. good luck jim,

Hi Jim,I just sent you a friends request I've only been on 3 month doing very well but that's got a lot to do with the clubs I brought so I could compete in comps since I have reached level 77 Master tier.

    Garry.

Just tried the Jan. Winter Tournament.......... took a ass whipping.

Is there anything out there that lets an amerture or early pro play against others equal?

Just seems impossible ( only played for a month ) how anyone shoots a 64 much less a 54????

Good advise........ the more I read, watch videos and all..... the more it is making since.

Balls and clubs seems to be a real key........ except putting, its just hard. tried the G13 S out for first time yesterday and shoot my low 9 holes so far ( 36 ).....if i could putt, it would have been even better.

so now i am wondering about the irons.......do they make that much difference ?

You guys are alot of help too,,,,,,, and I really appreciate your advise.

Hey Jim! Irons really help your game because more often than not it's what you use on your approach shot. And once again like the balls back spin is important because that translates into a shorter roll on the green. The first set of good irons i picked up were the Ping Rapture V2 (L33). They have good consistency with distance and spin control. Just remember the most important shot on each hole is the approach shot because the closer to the pin you land the shorter your putt will be. If you watch replays from most of the top players here you will notice they can drop the approach right next to the pin time after time. Good luck and hope this helps a little...

Probably the worst thing you can do is worry about what other people shoot. 2nd, the more you play, the lower your scores will get.I can't stress the fact enough that putting and short game is everything.Master that and you will be just fine.

    Hey Jim,

your post has inspired me to make a series of tutorials for the newer players.  I'm going to start with the short game and work my way out from there.  WGT already has a putting tutorial out, so I'm going to start with the green side stuff.  Flop shots are first, since people seem to have the most trouble with those. I've posted them in the forums...but you can click here as well:

    Hope it helps.

Keep it up Jim you will get better.

I'm actually pretty close to where you are, in the NW corner of Arkansas but not a Razorback fan by any means, okay my son goes to school there so I have to be a little bit.

Hit me up and we can play a game or two.
