My aim was to get my average under 60 until I hit a barrier, I'm just not good enough methinks LOL. Upon reaching 60.72 as Legend and also racing to reach the milestone of 4000 ranked rounds, it came as a blow that there was no reduction at all in my average after hitting 6 under in a 9 hole round.

I was wondering what the next limit shall be when 7 under will not make any reduction in the average? Is there a thread somewhere I could look up to find the answer or could someone just tell me.

I have hit 4000 ranked rounds today and my average is 60.69, so hopefully only 70 rounds of 7 under per round to go to reach my goal unless I need 8 under rounds before the goal is achieved.

    Cheers.

I don't know the exact formula for your average to fall but it does get to the stage where you need a couple of rounds below your average for it to drop by 0.01. Possibly 2x30s will see you drop 0.01.

Once below 60 I think it takes one 29 to drop the same. This is from memory as I can honestly say I have no idea what it takes for mine to drop. I would guess at 2x28s.

Thank you alosso, even though some of that went over my head. My best round 18 is 60 so I don't think I will be shooting much better rounds than that and a 27 for 9 holes is on my limit.

Is there somewhere I can see how many Legend rounds I've played as I've checked my stats and can't see it there?

Is my estimation of 70 rounds of 7 under per round enough to get me under 60 average from where I am now?

    Many thanks in advance.

no way of seeing all your rounds, only the last 200 scores posted

it has been said that the legend average is calculated over the best 400 rounds

so (presuming IHC has over 400 rounds at legend)....

    400 * 60.69 = 24276

    for an average of 60......

    400 * 60 = 24000

    thus

277 shots need to come off to get below an average of 60

    -------

lets assume that IHC next scores 30 - for 9 holes :) - and his average drops to 60.68

    60.68 * 400 = 24272

which is 4 off the total

    30 *2 = 60 + 4 = 64

so 64 must be the highest score in IHC's list of best scores

    --------

Sorry mate - I confused your 4000 rounds with the count of 400 for Legends.

Ty, oily, to correct my error.

From oily's calculation, you must get rid of 277 shots compared to the avg of 60.69.

The term "7 under" is not precise here because the absolute no. of strokes counts.
I assume that you're talking of 36 - 7 = 29 strokes for nine hole rounds(?) = 58 for 18. (at RSG and OAK -6's would do it)

    70 rounds of those better your average by 70 x 2.69 = 188 strokes - not enough. 103 rounds of 29 would do it (103 x 2.69 = 277,07).

Any other round of 60 and better (e.g. 59 on 18 holes) will bring you closer, too.
Even if you'd shoot nothing better than 60 you'd achieve your goal, too.

And, since there will be a few higher rounds in the calculation now, also a few 61's and higher will add to it by kicking out these higher scores.

Thank you alosso, I now know that 103 rounds of 29 score on 9 holes will do it for me, but that is not taking into account the other tourettes accompanied rounds that don't come up to scratch.

All my games have been ranked from the start of me playing and maybe if I were to only register the "good rounds" I would have been there a long time ago. At least I know that my average is a true one.

Thanks to all who helped answer my problem, much appreciated.

    Coming back after a while...

    Rather maybe not...

Since the average is calculated from a certain number of "best rounds" in one tier, the lesser good ones will eventually drop out of the equation and have no effect to the time needed to achieve a certain target number (except the time you needed to play those games).

There's no reason for anybody to quit a game in order to protect his good average - it simply doesn't matter in the end.
